Small but Brilliant

Marmot Alpinist Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Marmot Alpinist Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2008

My wife and I just tried it out for some camping including a November climb of Mt. Whitney. Lightweight and easy to set up, but also strong through a howling gale on Whitney. It's rather cozy for 2 people but does work if you like each other. Vestibule is small but enough room to cook in during a storm. No condensation problems noted.

Serious trekking Boot

Vasque Alpine LT GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Vasque Alpine LT GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2008

I was looking for a warm, waterproof boot for Kili and I chose the Vasque. Not sure I would take it to Rainier, but it has been seriously good on hikes and snowshoeing around Taos. Can't wait to try it out in Africa.

Mountain Hardwear Lightspeed Glove

Mountain Hardwear Lightspeed Glove

Rating for this product: 2 March 20, 2008

After 3 uses one glove came apart at the palm seam -- duct tape now fills the gap. On serious hiking in wind the outer glove has performed well, but overall I don't see why these gloves are so seriously hyped and so extravagantly priced.

Outdoor Research Mithril Stormshell Jacket - Women's - OR Customer Appreciation

Outdoor Research Mithril Stormshell Jacket - Women's - OR Customer Appreciation

Rating for this product: 5 December 3, 2007

I ordered the Men's Mithril after a Rainier climb in which I really needed a hooded light jacket, and this fills the prescription perfectly. It should be a great layer and is so comfortable. I look forward to trying it out in the Himalayas next spring. When my wife saw mine, she immediately ordered one.
