Quality you expect from Hestra.

Hestra Xtra Fit Glove

Hestra Xtra Fit Glove

Rating for this product: 5 March 29, 2010

I bought this glove because I needed something for sledheading that's exceptionally dry but without the bulk and warmth of insulation. Manipulating the throttle and brake are much easier and with the grip warmers you don't need the glove to be very warm. This glove fills that niche perfectly over a thin merino liner. Then, when you hop off the sled to skin up the combo remains exactly what you need in winter. Bring along an insulated mitt or something in case your hands get cold and there you go.

Good, warm slip-on for brief wear

The North Face Arctic Pull-On Boot - Men's

The North Face Arctic Pull-On Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2010

I slip my foot into these to take my dog out or grab some firewood off the rack. They're great for that. Totally hands-free. Boot stands tall, foot goes in. I wore them to town once, though, and had them on for a few hours and found out the hard way that the shin rubbing issue is legit. I think the stiffness that allows you to slide your foot in without bending down is going to produce that effect, and I'll take it. I'll just take the time to tie my Sorels if I'm heading out for a long time.

Sweet all-around, temperate weather gloves

Backcountry.com Stoic Inbounds Glove - Men's

Backcountry.com Stoic Inbounds Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2010

These aren't the warmest gloves on the market, but more than warm enough for 9 out of ten days in the bc or on the hill. As a snowboarder, I'm more of a gauntlet over the cuffs kind of guy since when I stop for a breather or in a safety zone I usually have a sit in the pow. BUT, the cuffs on these gloves do a pretty good job of keeping out snow despite being under my jacket sleeve. For that reason, it can be a small struggle to get them on if you have a big hand, but it's worth that small inconvenience. I don't know if they're still in stock, if so buy them. More than worth the cash.

Great home for your boys

Icebreaker BodyFit 150 Boxer Brief w/Fly - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit 150 Boxer Brief w/Fly - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2008

Merino. That's all I have to say. But I'll say more:

These absorb all manner of nastiness that results from your aerobic pursuits while still keeping you warm and not stinking too badly. Let's face it pal, your Johnnies are going to stink. These mitigate that effect as much as possible. Get them. Everyone else in the snowcave will appreciate it.

Nice lightweight mitts

Outdoor Research Endeavor Mitten

Outdoor Research Endeavor Mitten

Rating for this product: 5 February 25, 2008

These mitts round out my three piece backcountry glove system. I use them on the descent over the soft shell gloves I wear skinning up or over a pair of puffy mitts if it's super cold. They're lightweight and waterproof with a gauntlet over your sleeve and a great synching system. They stuff into a pocket and disappear. I'm not sure how paclight will stand up to a season of tree riding but you usually sacrafice abrasion resistance when you go for weight savings.

Nice but not super warm.

Black Diamond Kingpin Glove

Black Diamond Kingpin Glove

Rating for this product: 4 February 4, 2008

I bought these gloves basically as leather wear around town gloves and they are outstanding in that capacity. I would hesitate to wear them on the mountain or in the bc unless it was a pretty warm day. Maybe in the spring I'll bust them out since the leather is waterproof. I haven't made up my mind about the velcro closure: some days I like it, some days it's annoying.

My wife loves her red hat. It keeps her ears warm and makes her look like a teenager. That reminds me...I love her red hat, too. I just wish it was wool.

Bitchin pants.

Mountain Khakis Cottonwood Cord Pant - Men's

Mountain Khakis Cottonwood Cord Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2008

Kind of spendy but are prolly my sweetest pants. The fabric is soft and a li'l bit stretchy but still pretty resilient (for chords anyway), the cut is schweet and the extra pocket on the right on-seam is a nice bonus. I have a few pairs of these and the MK originals and the only thing I've noticed is that their sizing can be pretty inconsistent. When you find the ones that fit, though, you might never take them off. Peace.
