The North Face Akira Sport Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's

The North Face Akira Sport Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 6 days ago

First of all, this is a cotton product and I'm not sure what the description's writer was thinking - this isn't a "function" piece. Anyway, this is a sweet thin, light sweatshirt, overall. The fabric is substantial and it keeps it's shape throughout the day. The neck comes down slightly past the sternum. The length is longish, with a flattering silhouette. The cut is interesting in that the hips seem narrower than the waist and the shoulders are wide, with long arms. The seams hit the shoulders where they should, but there is something boxy about them. I probably could have gone down a size but I like the slouchy, comfortable fit.

Chaco ZX/2 Unaweep Sandal - Women's

Chaco ZX/2 Unaweep Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 20, 2009

After years of chewing through Teva's as a river guide, Chacos were a blessing. They grip well and are comfortable. No velcro means less chance of fungus. Put them through the dishwasher (minus dishes) to clean. The double straps give more adjustment options but you also have to adjust more often. Chaco has one of the best warranty programs in the business.

Dansko Professional Pull-Up Clog - Women's

Dansko Professional Pull-Up Clog - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 20, 2009

I've had this version for almost six years and they still look great. The sole is amazingly durable but I've replaced the insoles with Superfeet because of wear and tear. My local dealer said these were designed for health care professionals to match with scrubs. Tons of other colors and new funky patterns are available, too. Oh yeah, they suck ass in icy conditions and on uneven decks. Be careful.

Dansko Marcelle Cabrio Casual Clog - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 20, 2009

I have these in black and brown. I've worn them everywhere from waiting tables to medical/surgical floors in hospitals. Comfortable, supportive and they look good. What I find strange is that the brown is noticeably smaller / tighter then the black. They stretched and are fine, but still all around smaller, even though the size is the same.

Dansko Marcelle Cabrio Casual Clog - Women's

October 20, 2009

Yes, just be warned that they aren't the same type of non-slip as true kitchen shoes. I always made myself be extra careful as a server when floors and stairs were wet. I never fell but I did slide around a few times but the support and comfort was worth it.

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 October 19, 2009

I just received this and I'm pumped. The chocolate check is a badass color. This helmet fits extremely well with the Scott Alias, Oakley A-Frame, and the Smith Anthem goggles, with no gap. The strap system seems secure. I think the brim will prevent putting goggles on the forehead. Venting is easy to operate with gloves on.

Mountain Hardwear Sarafin Cardigan - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Sarafin Cardigan - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 October 19, 2009

I didn't have any issues with sizing but I wish the torso was a little longer. Sleeves and shoulders are typical of Mountain Hardwear - longer and accommodating and the overall cut is flattering. The quality is nice but I keep an eye out for strings at the end of the sleeves. It's a super warm piece and I would like to be push up the arms, but the seems prevent that. Overall, I would get another color if it was on sale.

Patagonia Full-Zip Re-Tool Fleece Jacket - Women's

Patagonia Full-Zip Re-Tool Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 18, 2009

I wasn't sure what to expect when I hit the submit button, but this is classic Patagonia. The color is beautiful and the jacket is well cut. This is a lightweight, non-windproof piece, meant to be layered. The sleeves are just right and the shoulders are cut for an athletic women. The cut through the waist is a bit boxy and it could be a bit more darted. I also wish the neck was looser - I leave it partially unzipped. But a winner nonetheless. I too have the Marmot Radiant jacket and I feel less like a rug in the Retool.

Rating for this product: 3 August 19, 2009

Nice top but not for me. I felt like I was wearing a towel. If you can pull off the retro/emo/workout look then go for it because it is a well made piece. I liked the cut and the trim, but the material and color were off for my taste. The length is nice and the neck scoop is modest and flattering.

prAna Relay Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 August 19, 2009

These are fine for what I was looking for, which was an inexpensive short for running, hiking, and Pilates. The waist is sort of big while the thighs seem a bit tighter then they should be (its probably just me). The rise is longer then I expected but they stayed in place during a 5k run and I wasn't pulling at my shorts (I hate that). The fabric is a bit heavy but they breath well and the construction seems solid. I have a feeling I'll wear them a lot, even though I'm not totally thrilled with the cut.

Horny Toad Zola Tank Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 August 19, 2009

I bought this in two different colors, and I am pleased I did that. The fabric is soft and light and the shelf bra gives some decent support for running and other cardio activities. The length is fabulous but be prepared for a clingy top. I can't tell if the abyss is more purple or more blue, which is sort of cool. I would probably get this in other colors if available in the future.

Flattering

Horny Toad Tabitha Tank Top - Women's

Horny Toad Tabitha Tank Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 August 19, 2009

This is a nice, basic top that is cut amazingly well across the shoulders. The design is embroidered, which is classy and the orchid color isn't as loud as I thought it would be (which is just fine). The shelf bra is nice for secondary support, but not enough on its own but the overall size is comfortable. I wish the length was longer, but it's fine, as long as it doesn't shrink. Pairs well with a skirt for summer and will be a great Pilates / yoga top once winter hits.

Patagonia Color Block Makeba Top - Women's

Patagonia Color Block Makeba Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 July 26, 2009

I have two of these tops and I love them for the most part. They have nice coverage and decent support, are cut well and I swam every day last winter in one or the other. I pulled the pads out, which was easy and the material still had proper coverage and thickness. Usually, I get the back ties to where I want them and double knot it until it's too loose again. For those with larger chests, the shoulder straps will dig in if tied too tightly. I usually don't notice it at first but it hurts over time and can leave temporary marks.

Cloudveil Headwall Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 July 25, 2009

Warm without being hot and it doesn't weigh too much when it has to go in the pack. The shoulders are tight but the sleeve length is righteous. The cut is athletic and it hits barely below the hip.The biggest downer is that dog hair sticks to the inner fleece like no other jacket I've ever owned.

Thule Crossroad Railing Foot Pack

Rating for this product: 5 July 25, 2009

I can't believe how solid these are. I check my racks at least once a month and I haven't had to tighten or adjust anything in the year plus I've had this setup. This was super easy to adapt to a factory luggage rack and I had it on in about 15 minutes. The weight limit is generous and I've carried some solid loads with no problems.

Thule Echelon Roof Bike Mount

Thule Echelon Roof Bike Mount

Rating for this product: 4 July 25, 2009

Nice clean design that was simple enough to figure out. Adjustments are really easy when switching between bikes and the sled fits wide tires. The rear ratchet is a little on the cheap side, but adequate as it hasn't broken yet. I always use the locks whether I'm carrying bikes or not to prevent the cam lever from releasing, which started to happen once on a short drive and could be disastrous.

Long and sturdy

Thule Load Bar Pair

Thule Load Bar Pair

Rating for this product: 5 July 25, 2009

I have the 78" bars. I think my record so far is 10 whitewater boats, standing eight across with two on top of those. I have a Thule Mountaineer box up there now and I can still fit three boats and a bike or four boats straight across. I've rallied around the Northwest fully loaded and stood on the bars trying to tie awkward loads down. The bars haven't warped or seemed stressed yet. Just make sure the weight limit concept is understood.

prAna Izzie Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 July 24, 2009

I was skeptical at first. I didn't think I'd wear these but they're great for Yoga and Pilates. They stay where they're supposed to and don't ride up or down. The cut is flattering and they're nice and light for summer classes. The drawstring off to the side is great. My only gripe is that the legs ride up when hiking or running, so I don't use them for those activities.

prAna Sadi Vest - Women's

prAna Sadi Vest - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 July 24, 2009

I must have received a second or third pick and it almost seemed like a knockoff. The pockets were sewn shut and unfinished, the arm holes weren't even close to even, and there were strings hanging on the seams. The fit was completely uncharacteristic for Prana in that the length was really short and the torso was tight. I liked the concept but the vest was pretty sad. Backcountry returned it with no problem and I had full refund within the week, which was sweet.

Bridgedale Heel Fit Midweight Ski Sock - Men's

Bridgedale Heel Fit Midweight Ski Sock - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 July 23, 2009

The feet, ankles, and lower calf fit fine but there is this obnoxious band around the top that digs in at the widest part of the calf. If I went up a size, the feet would be way too big. I never wore them enough to see if they were any good in the outdoor environment because my blood flow was restricted before I ever got my ski boots on.

Stohlquist Wedge-e Life Jacket

Rating for this product: 3 July 21, 2009

I had the rescue version, which is the same cut. I really liked the freedom of movement and it allowed me to tuck way forward on the deck of my kayak. It fits nice and snug around the core when properly adjusted but isn't great for anyone over a B cup in the chest. Downside - you go freaking deep when you take a big swim, which can be a good thing sometimes but it usually just sucks. Its low profile with minimal floatation and doesn't provide much back protection.

Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger Bag

Rating for this product: 4 July 21, 2009

I have the Medium size in a wool fabric. It keeps rain and snow out and is comfortable even fully loaded with school books. I agree that my text books are in better shape than when I carried everything in a backpack. The backing is comfortable and the bag doesn't shift around when bike commuting. My laptop seems safe in the corduroy lined compartment, secured with a velcro strap. Great side pockets for random things like keys, phones and other items requiring accessibility. When I ordered it, I thought the color was purple but its a bright raspberry fuchsia.

The North Face Good Luck Stripe Shirt - 3/4 Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 July 18, 2009

This is a decent shirt but nothing special because it looks utilitarian. It's a nice summer weight without being see-through or feeling like it will fall apart when it meets the washing machine. It runs tight through the shoulders and arms and isn't very fitted through the torso. The colors and patterns are nice and I like the option of rolling the sleeves or letting them stay down. Overall, it's comfortable and I love it for fly-fishing.

Marmot Radiant Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

I've been eyeing this for a while and after it snowed last week, I figured what the heck. I'm still torn about the sizing. I'm normally a large and it feels slightly tight along the chest, kind of making me think XL, but that rarely works out with jackets. But the length is great, hitting past the hip and the shoulders and sleeve length are right on, which is key. Seems warm for mild nights and the Faded Blue is a rad color but I have blue fuzzies all over my black tank top.

I thought this vest would be longer and more fitted by the looks of the picture. There is too much material around the middle but it would probably be too short if I dropped down a size or two. I'm hanging onto it, but I REALLY wanted to love this one...The fleece is soft, the lining is nice and the zipper and armholes are lined with canvass, adding some durability. Nice colors, nice cut, and a great length. Its pretty fitted and the sleeves come slightly past the elbows but ride up a little. The v-neck is a little deep for me but it works with a cami or a sportsbra underneath.

Mountain Hardwear Butter Topper Sweatshirt - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Butter Topper Sweatshirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 18, 2007

This is really similar to the Butter Hoody but the v-neck makes it WAY better. Its more flattering on the shoulders and may be slightly heavier in weight. The Butter Topper wicks well and its freakin' warm. The icefall color is more on the seafoam side but its nice.

The North Face Lora 1/2 Zip Hooded Fleece - Women's

My only gripe is that I wish the zip neck was a little longer. The tapestry blue is a nice color and I may have to get the mission plum. Great for running and hiking in the Oregon fall. Nice length in the hip and the sleeves are definitely long enough.

This looks super cute with jeans or yoga pants when you're on the way to class. The fleece on the inside is "wooly" in texture, and it layers well when the winter weather sets in. The alpine vest is fitted, and once you get used to the shoulders (mine are really wide), it's super comfortable.
