Rome Anthem Snowboard

Rome Anthem Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 August 18, 2011

I'm a big fan of the Hybrid camber, it rides short when making low angle turns at slower speeds, but then rides long when you let the board run.

I used to ride an Agent 154 as deck for spring and general riding, I kicked up to the Anthem 157 as I found it a touch more stable at spped, but with the hybrid camber I found that it still rode short when goofing off on banks and stuff on the side of the trail. When I went to AK last spring I just increased the length to a 161 (technically rode the SS); it was nice to be able to stay on basically the same shape, which made the transition easier.

Surf's Up Brah!

Rome Notch Swallow Tail Snowboard

Rome Notch Swallow Tail Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 August 18, 2011

Rode this one day in AK this past winter and it was a super easy ride. S-Camber and swallow tail makes this carry & generate speed on a variety of pitches. I'll definitely be making one of these my own this year. One side hill of a gully was particularly memorable as I just rode the thing like a big wave...

Rome Anthem SS Snowboard

Rome Anthem SS Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 August 18, 2011

Rode the 161 in Alaska last spring. I'm a big fan of the Hybrid camber, it rides short when making low angle turns at slower speeds, but then rides long when you let the board run. Next spring when I head back I may step up to a 163, but I had absolutely no complaints on the 161.

Rome Targa Snowboard Binding

October 20, 2009

Why? The Conformist Toe strap will work "cap-style" (why they call it conformist; you can ride it any way you want) In fact the new Burton style cap strap is a knock off of the Rome design.

Love my Thru-Hiker

Mountain Hardwear Helion 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Mountain Hardwear Helion 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 October 20, 2009

This looks like the update to the Thru-Hiker...these are good three-season lightweight FREE-STANDING tents... I empahsize that because that's the main reason I bought this over the Light Path or the clip flashlight. This has definitely held up in some good storms. I have another tent for when I'm kayak or car camping that is a little more spacious, but for a free-standing backpacking tent this rules

Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Glove - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 20, 2009

Just bought these locally and I've played soccer in them, hiked in them etc. Powerstretch is a great fabric. I bought Mediums counting on the "stretch" and have been fine. nice fabric cut and seams are not too heavy on the fingers. Not a complaint, but suggestion...maybe some silicone on the finger tips in spots might add some dexterity...

Oakley O-Frame Goggle

Oakley O-Frame Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 October 20, 2009

and I never regret when I wear them. Great goggle for the money. Polar fleece laminated face foam makes them super nice on the coldest days. I have these with yellow lenses for low light days on the east coast. (Frankly, these are such a good deal I wouldn't recommend changing lenses, just buy two pairs and change goggles, and spend more time on the hill)

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 October 20, 2009

If I'm wearing my helmet, these are the goggles I rock. One of my co-workers even commented on how gap-free they were with the helmet. If not wearing a helmet I'll rock A-frames or O-frames that are a little lower profile.

Oakley A-Frame Goggle

persimmon, pink iridium, & HI Persimmon are the best all-around lenses. The HI Persimmon adds a little bright sun versatility to the persimmon. In VT, I'll ride the HI yellow the most though.

Full-time board for the last 4 years

Rome Design Snowboard

Rome Design Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 October 20, 2009

Great board. Super light. Nose shape on both ends allow you to ride switch in bowls or the woods; I prefer twin boards for riding in sticky situations because that way you can always change up how you drop in to best suit the situation. Traditional camber helps it rail groomers on those days...

Like the Headline over the Agent

Rome Headline Snowboard

Rome Headline Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 October 20, 2009

I usually ride this shape in the spring. It's super versatile and can jump and jib a lot better than most people give it credit for. The flex is a little more consistent overall than an Agent so I like how it rides in all conditions where I sometimes find the nose & tail of the Agent to be a little soft. So I definitely prefer this for spring time jibbing over an Agent...

Better than expected on ice...

Rome Postermania 1985 Snowboard

Rome Postermania 1985 Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 October 20, 2009

Rode a 159 at Jay last year and was a little worried about the performance on ice. Was pleasantly surprised how well it performed. Obviously reverse camber so it will shred pow, so I'm super psyched to ride this this year.

Rome Agent Snowboard

October 20, 2009

The Agent is a Freestyle board so you will have no trouble landing switch. The tail is a touch shorter which helps it's all-mountain performance, but not as short as an all-mountain board like the Anthem or Headline.

Prefer AR's for layering

Arc'teryx Rho LT Bottom - Men's

Arc'teryx Rho LT Bottom - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 15, 2008

This is a nice fabric but I generally prefer the powerstretch AR bottoms in my layering setup. These are nice weight though if you're hiking for turns or if it's a little more spring-like

and have been thrilled with the tops...in my review of the bottoms I say how I prefer the powerstretch but I really like these on top as a first layer. Combined with a thicker wool sweater these are a part of a super versatile layering system that adjusts to different temperatures well

Arc'teryx Rho AR Boot-Cut Bottom - Men's

You look a little weird wearing 'em with no shell pants on but it's a great concept. Huge fan of the Powerstretch fabric as a bottom baselayer under shell pants.

Marmot Original DriClime Windshirt - Men's

Marmot Original DriClime Windshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2008

If they were to create an outerwear hall of fame, you'd see this alongside TNF Denali's, Cloudveil Serendipity's, & Arc'Teryx Theta AR's. Great for Spring and Fall biking...mid-winter touring...as a layering piece...I've even worn it as a base layer...Nice layering piece under a three-ply shell (or even one with a hung liner) taffeta slides smooth against the inside of your outer shell for unrestricted movement. Pocket is great for ipod or keys.

Rome 390 Snowboard Binding

December 3, 2008

i know they should have 3d disk-shr2463359 Rome does not include the 3D disk in the box. The 3D hole pattern and mounting is patented by burton and Rome refuses to pay a royalty to Burton on all of their bindings. Rome does make a "Convert Disk" that fits Burton three-hole boards; your local shop should have been given some...if not you can contact Rome as the above answer (from RID2463580) says.

Rome 390 Snowboard Binding

December 3, 2008

Not exactly...these are part of Rome's 1 of 1 so each one is randomly different...For example the paint splotches vary I think the buckles do as well...that said Angus is more right that they are different like shown.

Awesome shape; doesn't give you Fish hand!

Rome Notch Snowboard

Rome Notch Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2008

I made the switch to Rome boards a few years ago and love them. I ride the 58 in Vermont woods and love it. My complaint about the fish is that it was great in the woods but sucked on the trail getting there. This board can handle groomers and rules woods, banks, & anything you can find off-piste. Also, the nose tapers really thin, I believe this helps it deflect up and out of the snow (keeping you above board). I ride it the same size as my Design (my full-time groomer board), but I used to ride bigger boards before switching to these boards (63 & 62's)

Super-light

Rome Design Snowboard

Rome Design Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2008

This is my full-time board and I love it. I ride the 58, I rode the original version and loved it and bought this one. The new nose construction is a lot more forgiving and helps makes this board go any where on the mountain. FYI on the Smart base- You can wax it. It just helps to adapt to the snow temp on days you haven't waxed or have missed the wax.

Great Pack

Rome Insurgent Snowboard Pack - 3050cu in

Rome Insurgent Snowboard Pack - 3050cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 16, 2007

This pack rules. I have an older version but it's basically the same pack. The Osprey style wings makes sure it carries well no matter how much gear you are carrying. It's got multiple ways to get into the pack; so if you put a fleece at the bottom you can easily get it out.The top pocket is great for your goggles. I've done Tuck's a few times with it as well as early season hikes at Stowe.
