  • Stomping Grounds:

    The Berkshires, Massachusetts, USA
  • Bio:

My husband and I are avid walkers and love a good long urban hike just to enjoy the weather, outdoors and a chance to talk without the TV and computers.
Travel is a huge part of my life and career so I am always looking for comfortable travel-wear and portable gear. My favorite thing to do in any new location is to walk around. I've walked Belfast and the Irish countryside, Paris, Versailles, Barcelona, Manila, Buenos Aires and so many beautiful places in the U.S. such as The Badlands, Mesa Verde, Yellowstone, Glacier, Bryce Canyon and Denali NPs, the Appalachians of NY, PA, MA, NH, TN and many more.

Favorite places? Alaska was by far the best trip ever! Definitely one of the top ten places to visit before you die.

The pic? Favorite tree in the backyard Fall2008.

Gear? For travel-wear and comfort->Ex Officio. For hiking and cold weather->Columbia and The North Face. For shoes; Teva, Salomon, Merrell and ULU.

These gloves are great...

injinji Performance Glove - Women's

injinji Performance Glove - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 8, 2008

These gloves are great, I have small hands and they are true to size. The reflective material is not overwhelming either. They are not long on the wrist though so I'll have to where coat with elastic band cuffs to keep my wrists warm in the cold.

Super warm...

The North Face XTC Expedition Tight - Women's

The North Face XTC Expedition Tight - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

Super warm tights. I am always concerned about movement in lined tights but these are perfect for my cold weather urban hiking! I've been out for walks in 45 degree weather and hardly felt the cold at all. I suspect my light-weight wind pants will be needed in the blizzard winds we sometimes get in New England but they should pair nicely with these.

Great, soft, wicking...

Columbia Mountain Tech Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Columbia Mountain Tech Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

It's always a toss up between Ex Officio, Columbia, and The North Face for me. I ordered this Columbia shirt in lemon meringue (love the color btw) and I was not disappointed. The shirt is true to size and comfortable with no itchy seams.

Nice grip, warm gloves...

Seirus All Weather Glove - Men's

Seirus All Weather Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 8, 2008

I ordered these for my husband to wear on our urban hikes during the cold New England weather rather than his bulky/knit snow-shoveling gloves. They are sleek, love the rubber grip on the palm. He has relatively small hands but the fingers are a little tight so we're hoping they stretch a little.

Loving Teva...

Teva Kayenta Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

These are my first pair of Teva's and Teva is now on my shortlist for gear. So comfortable and stylish. I was apprehensive of the color at first, bought the black/white but they turned out to be very nice indeed. They actually look gray from a distance.

Great shoe

Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 8, 2008

Absolutely don't miss the laces and having to stop to re-tie! They are heavier than I am used to and they seem longer, found myself tripping over the toe for the first week. Didn't take long to get used to them though.

ULU Turin Apres Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

The exact boot I bought (ULU Crow) last month is not longer available but I had to write a review and these are very similar boots. I couldn't wait until the weather turned colder to wear these. They are comfortable, cute and most importantly WARM!

Love Merrell..

Merrell Encore MJ Wool Shoe - Women's

Merrell Encore MJ Wool Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

This is the Spring, Summer, Fall equivalent of the Encore Chill for me. I wear these everyday for everything but hiking.
Merrell has a great weight distribution in the soles for women's shoes that compensate for our wider hips, ie your ankles and knees won't roll in and get sore on long shopping sprees or hiking trips. Most importantly, your feet don't hurt one bit!

Best underwear ever...

Ex Officio Give-N-Go Bikini Brief - Women's

Ex Officio Give-N-Go Bikini Brief - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

I travel often and these are the perfect underwear for running around the airport and walking a new city for hours. Love the material, the seams don't rub you raw and the boy cut don't wedge up. The coral color is more red than coral...I was a bit surprised at the vibrant color compared to my white and black ones but I still like them.

Injinji=Great

injinji Outdoor Crew Toe Sock

injinji Outdoor Crew Toe Sock

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

I wear Injinji toe socks when running, hiking and walking long distances/duration over any other sock. They offer blister freedom and better balance. The benefits and comfort far outweigh the annoyance of putting them on : )

Ex Officio ExO Dri Pointelle Hoody - Women's

November 7, 2008

Fit is true to size but is a nice stretch knit that gives it an added bonus. It's a good length too so it won't ride up when you bend to re-tie shoelaces etc. I hate constantly having to pull my shirt down.

Love, love, love these briefs...

Ex Officio Give-N-Go Boy Cut Brief - Women's

Ex Officio Give-N-Go Boy Cut Brief - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 18, 2008

I bought two pair at the beginning of the year. I travel so often and I'm all about comfort (why do some women wear high heels through the airport?), these are my "special airplane panties" as they don't wedge up, wick away moisture as I'm running from terminal to terminal and they are easy to clean/dry fast in the hotel room. Buy them, buy lots of them!

Injinji=Great

injinji Performance Mini-Crew Toe Sock

injinji Performance Mini-Crew Toe Sock

Rating for this product: 5 September 18, 2008

Besides making my husband laugh when I say the name, Injinji is genius. Their toe socks are fabulous. I have small feet, size 6, and find my toes are so small they get squished together too easily. These socks not only prevent pesky blister in even the best shoes whether jogging or power walking. Pay attention to the type though, performance socks should be worn for performance...if you're looking for socks to knock around the house get the comfort or outdoor crew types also by Injinji. The performance socks are thinner and will wear out eventually so don't waste them dancing around the kitchen.

Love, love, love these capris. Ordering another pair. Not the best for warm weather but oh so comfy for yoga and just lounging around. Will be nice in the fall/winter.
