Mountain Hardwear Microstretch Zip Top - Men's

November 16, 2010

I just got mine and it is really the first piece of slim fitting gear that's arrived in awhile. I'm 5'8 140 and the small is almost too small.

X-Bionic Tracksuit Medium Leg - Men's

November 12, 2010

What is your sidekick supposed to wear when you get zipped up?

I don't see an x-bionic butler outfit anywhere on the site!

Cold weather climbing review

Black Diamond GlideLite Nylon STS Skins

Black Diamond GlideLite Nylon STS Skins

Rating for this product: 4 February 17, 2009

seem solid enough.
I haven't yet tested them out in all conditions as my climbs have been on firmer snow in sub arctic temps but just to address a couple issues that have been brought up:

I find the bag to have plenty of room.

All razors that come with skins are terrible in my experience.

They have very little glide at all.

They weight on the skis seems pretty good for the size, but it's hard to gage on the fat skis. These are cut for my Jaks. It's really hard for me to imagine how these are much better or worse than any other skins i've used. They certainly did the job, but my biggest problem is clumping and that wouldn't happen with any skin on Hoth.

Bonus: sts is real easy on and off so your hands stay a bit warmer than on other tip tail attachments i've tried.

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Plus Binding

December 30, 2008

Definitely the Duke or Baron depending on your weight/height.I'd like to add that what you want are two separate things. Dukes are probably more bomber for tricks, but i would rather tour with freerides, and it's not even close. Both will keep you in if you're dropping cliffs, unless you're really large. then get the marker.

G3 The Baron All Mountain Ski

G3 The Baron All Mountain Ski

Rating for this product: 4 December 9, 2008

I still like these ski's, but I am a little less into them as a 1 ski quiver. I am thinking about getting some super fat skis for the pow and skied on some true ice coast catskills stuff of the like that i haven't seen for the 90s and would have prefered bomber lange WC's and a slalom ski to carve it up.

Barons - Great 85 percent of the time. Pow, crud, windblown ice/crust. For waist deep hero pow or an east coast hockey rink, choose something else (or stay inside).

Hope that helps.

I don't know why companies even make boots anymore.

Scarpa Tornado Pro Alpine Touring Ski Boot

Scarpa Tornado Pro Alpine Touring Ski Boot

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2008

these are amazingly stiff and yet super comfortable. Going uphill is easy, and downhill even better. They keep me warm, my feet are happy, and they can drive my ski. A better all around experience than the performance boots like the Lange 120s, without sacrificing much. Plus, if you have a narrow foot they will fit you like a glove. or boot. whatever. I couldn't be happier.

Patagonia Active Boxer Brief - Men's

Patagonia Active Boxer Brief - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 23, 2007

Seriously, I might not have to wash them till then! (Please don't tell her!)

I don't even think I yelled at a cabbie all week. At night I can wash them in the bathroom and they're dry by morning, if I'm not feeling too lazy.

Amazing!

The only problem is that my friends are sick with hearing how great my underwear is.

Nice pack towel

MSR Packtowl UltraLite

MSR Packtowl UltraLite

Rating for this product: 4 July 23, 2007

I wish that I bought the biggest size though, the 20x36 isn't quite enough to get that nice warm you up kind of wrap around, but it is certainly enough to dry you off.

dry's pretty quick. everyone needs one. It's a towel, let's not get too crazy here.

Icebreaker SuperFine140 Tech Lite T-Shirt Short-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker SuperFine140 Tech Lite T-Shirt Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 23, 2007

I wear this to work on my road bike every day and it never gets gross. I am getting a little sick of drying off with paper towels though, maybe i'll start bringing a pack towel.

It does bleed like crazy every time I wash it (red) so keep it separate for a long while.
