Excellent casual shoe!

KEEN Presidio Shoe - Women's

KEEN Presidio Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

These have been comfortable from the beginning and are great shoes for kicking around. They are comfortable and durable and look good with jeans or khakis. I've had good success with Keen's in general. These seem to fit true to size with a lightweight sock. If you wear thick socks, you might want to go up a 1/2 size.

Great boot for dayhiking & camping!

KEEN Voyageur Mid Hiking Boot - Women's

KEEN Voyageur Mid Hiking Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I bought these boots for dayhking and camping. I use them with Superfeet insoles and Smartwool hiking socks. They've been comfortable from the very beginning and required no break in period at all. I have a weak left ankle from an injury, and they provide enough ankle support to keep me from rolling my ankle un uneven terrain. I have a pair of Lowe boots that are a little heavier that I use for backpacking, but for everything else I grab the Keen's.

Comfortable & Dependable

Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus Sleeping Pad - Women's

Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus Sleeping Pad - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I use this sleeping pad for backpacking and motorcycle camping. I also recently started using it inside my travel trailer. It makes the RV bed a little more comfortable. The 1.5" thickness seems to be just right. I've tried a 1", and it was just too thin. Anything thicker would be too heavy and take up too much space. I'm 5'4", and the length is just right for me. It does a good job insulating me from the cold ground and provides enough cushion and support for me to sleep on my side. It's been comfortable and dependable during the two years I've been using it.

Works great with Burton Feather!

Burton Stiletto Snowboard Binding - Women's

Burton Stiletto Snowboard Binding - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I bought these bindings when I got my Burton Feather. This was after my first season on a cheap Lamar setup. What a difference the Burton gear made. My riding greatly improved. My old bindings never did work smoothly, but the Burton Stilettos have worked flawlessly.

Worth every penny!

Burton Feather Snowboard - Women's

Burton Feather Snowboard - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

When I first started snowboarding, I bought a cheap Lamar board. After the first season I bought a Burton Feather. I cannot tell you how much the Feather improved my riding. It is obvious to me now that good equipment does make a difference. This board may seem a bit expensive, expecially if you're just starting out, but it's worth it. If you want a quality experience, get quality gear.

Heavier than I was expecting...

Horny Toad Dream Jacket - Women's

Horny Toad Dream Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 27, 2009

This is a nice looking jacket, but I was expecting a really lightweight jacket, and it's actually fairly heavy, although it is just cotton. The insulation was thick enough that I felt it made me look a little bulky. I ordered my usual size small, and found that it had plenty of room for a sweater or fleece underneath. I sent it back, however, because I felt it would be too warm for my intended use in the mild CA climate I live in.

Great running socks!

SmartWool PhD Running Light Micro Sock

SmartWool PhD Running Light Micro Sock

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I normally wear Coolmax Thor-lo's for running, but I bought some racing shoes and needed a slightly thinner sock than the Thor-lo's. I decided to try these, and they worked out great. These socks stay in place when running, and they keep my feet dry and comfortable. They wash up nicely, although I do recommend air drying them (and wool socks in general).

My Everyday Favorite

SmartWool Margarita Sock - Women's

SmartWool Margarita Sock - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

These socks have become my everyday socks that I wear to work. I have five different color variations (all striped), so I have a pair that matches nearly everything. They are comfortable, durable, and well made. They seem expensive at first, but will outlast two or three pair of cheaper socks. They're lightweight, but not paper thin either. They're cool in the summer and wick well, yet are warm in the winter. I definitely recommend them.

Nice jacket, but prefer Houdini

Arc'teryx Celeris Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Celeris Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 27, 2009

I have a couple of Patagonia Houdini jackets. I was looking for a similar jacket without a hood and came across this one. I gave it a try, but decided to stick with the Houdini. The fabric just wansn't as nice and the length not as long. The one thing I did like better about the Arcteryx Celeris was the velcro tabs on the wrists. It's definitely worth a try, but I'd recommend checking out the Houdini as well.

A Staple in my Active Wardrobe

Patagonia Capilene 2 Zip-Neck Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Patagonia Capilene 2 Zip-Neck Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I've had two of these for a couple of years now, and I wear them constantly. In the summer they're great for cool evenings, and they're light enough to carry in your daypack just in case. In winter, they're great for layering. I wear them running, backpacking, and even around town. They look good, even after a couple years of use. These will be on my Christmas wish list this year. They are just so versatile. The fit is right on--fitted. Not loose, but not skin tight.

Great for running!

Patagonia Capilene 1 Graphic Performance T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Patagonia Capilene 1 Graphic Performance T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I did a 5K race where they gave these out as the souvenier shirt. Since then I've bought a couple more. They work great for running--lightweight, comfortable, no irritating seams, and keeps you dry. They're especially good in hot weather. Now that it's cooler, I use them as a baselayer under a Patagonia Capilene 2 or 3 zip-neck or heavier fleece. I like a looser fit, so I order up one size. If you like them more form fitting, order your regular size.

Excellent design...A must have jacket!

Arc'teryx Atom LT Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Atom LT Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I ordered this, but I thought I'd give it a try. Well what I discovered is that this is an absolute must have piece. It's super lightweight, soft and comfortable, and can function as a stand alone jacket or a midlayer. The main body is a nylon wind-type shell that is lightly insulated, but it has stretch panels on the sides that are breathable. The cuffs are a soft lycra-type material and are very comfortable and work to seal out the wind. The jacket is so cozy, I don't want to take it off. I'll wear it alone most of the time, since winters here are mild, but when I head to colder climates I'll layer this under a hard shell.

Nice jacket, but poor fit for me...

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Women's

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 27, 2009

This is a really well made jacket--typical of Patagonia quality. I really wanted it to work, but the sizing was just off for me. I ordered a small, which is my normal size, but this jacket swallowed me. I am 5'4" and 105 lbs. Even with layers underneath it was big. When zipped up, it covered my face all the way to my nose. I sent it back and decided to try the XS. Well unfortunately it was a bit small. If the sizing works for you, it would be a nice jacket. If not, I would recommend the Arcteryx Beta SL and the Mountain Hardwear Epic.

Holds much more than you'd think!

Osprey Packs Talon 5.5 Backpack - 240-330cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 5, 2009

I bought this pack to take with me on a trip to Moab, UT. I used it for mountain biking and hiking. This bag turned out to be perfect--exactly what I've been searching for. This pack holds much more than what some of the reviews led me to believe. I carried the following items inside the bag while mountain bikine: (2) .5L water bottles, Patagonia Houdini jacket, North Face baselayer bottoms, Spot personal locator, a sandwich, apple, energy bar, camera, first aid kit, wallet, keys, cell phone, and lip balm. I could have easily fit a couple more small items if needed. The pack was the most comfortable pack I've ever worn.

An absolute essential!

Patagonia Houdini Full-Zip Softshell Jacket - Women's

Patagonia Houdini Full-Zip Softshell Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 15, 2009

This jacket is an essential part of my wardrobe. I bought one about 5 years ago thinking I might use it occasionally. I was sure wrong. I wear it all the time. I take this jacket with me everywhere, and I wear it more than any other jacket in my wardrobe. It stuffs so small that there is no reason not to take it. I use it for running, cycling, hiking, camping, and any time it gets a bit chilly or windy. My older one is probably from 2004 or so and is an XS. I just ordered a new one from Backcountry in another color, and in the new 2009 model I wear a small, so it seems they changed their sizing in the past few years. My normal size is a small, so go with the size you normally wear. I highly recommend this jacket. It's worth every penny!

Baggies last forever!

Patagonia Baggies Board Short - Women's

Patagonia Baggies Board Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 15, 2009

I had two pair of these shorts for 15 years. The shorts never wore out, although the elastic in the waist finally did. I still wore them using the drawstring though. I finally decided to get some new ones, and the new style/cut is much improved over the old ones from the 90's. These are great for running, hiking, kayaking and other water sports, or just hanging out. Highly recommended.

Best Boy Shorts I've Found!

SmartWool Microweight Boy Brief - Women's

SmartWool Microweight Boy Brief - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 29, 2009

Let me start by saying I have tried almost every boy short imaginable and had just about determined that boy shorts weren't for me, but then I found these. They fit well, do not ride up, the fabric feels great, and they wash up nicely. They have a slightly longer inseam that most boy shorts (although not as long as it appears in the picture), and I think this helps them stay in place. They are nearly perfect. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I think I'd like them even better if the rear seam was done slightly differently. Don't plan on wearing these to eliminate panty lines under tighter fitting pants and shorts though. You won't have a panty line, but you will have a shorts line at the legs.

Under Armour Active Boy Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 September 30, 2008

I ordered these in a size small, which is my normal size, but they just didn't work. For some reason they sat a couple of inches lower in the back than the front on me. The fabric is nice, however, and they might be worth a try. Guess they just didn't fit my shape.

KEEN Boulder Canyon Quarter Ultralite Socks - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 July 23, 2008

I bought these despite the negative review, and I am very happy with them. They are more comfortable and softer than some comparable Smartwool socks that I have, and the Keen socks are just the right weight for a thin, lightweight sock. I will definitely be ordering more. I only wish that they came in white or off-white too.

Smartwool's great, but these aren't...

SmartWool Cable Sock - Women's

SmartWool Cable Sock - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 October 1, 2007

I love Smartwool socks and have been wearing their hiking socks for years. I also like the Saturn stripe stocks. Since I like Smartwool so much, I thought I'd give these Cable socks a try for the office. Well I was very disappointed. They actually feel rough, fit poorly, and are slightly scratchy. I will probably go ahead and wear them, since I would feel stupid returning socks I've worn, but I definitely won't buy any more of them.

Super cute jacket!

The North Face First Ascent Full Zip Jacket - Women's

The North Face First Ascent Full Zip Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 20, 2007

I saw this jacket at a local store, but they didn't have the color I wanted (brown/pink) so I checked out here, and of course they had it. I actually haven't worn it yet, because I live where it's still hot, but come fall, I'm sure it will become one of my favorites. In my opinion, the only thing that could improve this jacket is to make the neck a little less "tall". Also, I wish it came in the brown/orange combination like the men's version. Whey do they always think women want pink?!!

Isis Brief - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 June 7, 2007

I am 5'5" and 105 lbs. I ordered these in a size small. I didn't even have to try them on to tell that they would be too small. They were tiny! I sent them back and exchanged them for a size medium. The medium doesn't fit too well. The leg openings are too tight, and the waist is too big. You might have better luck if you're shaped differently than me. The fabric is kind of heavy, even the mesh part. If your looking at these, I would consider Patagonia first. I've had better luck with Patagonia and their fabric is nicer.

Nalgene Lexan Wide Mouth Water Bottle - 32oz DO NOT USE

Nalgene Lexan Wide Mouth Water Bottle - 32oz DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2007

I've used these for years and will continue to use them. They are great for backpacking and just about any activity where you need to take water along. They don't make your water taste funny like some bottles, and they are very durable. Just how durable? Well my husband and I were riding our enduro motorcycles, and he had two of these bottles in a fanny pack. He went down on his bike and slid on his side down the gravel road. One of the bottles scraped along the road during the accident. The bottle had some nasty scrapes on it, but the only thing that broke was the little strap that connects the lid to the bottle. The bottle survived the crash and is still usable. As for my husband, he was able to get up and ride away with only a few bruises, some torn clothes, and a scraped up helmet.

Patagonia Houdini Full-Zip Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 May 15, 2007

I've had this jacket for a year, and I can't believe how much I have used it. It is so lightweight and packs up so tiny that I take it with me almost everywhere. I carry it with me when running if there's a chance of rain. I take it on hikes in case it gets windy, chilly, or I just need an extra layer. It blocks moderate wind, light rain, and adds a little warmth when needed. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it's kind of expensive for such a lightweight jacket.

Patagonia Active Tiny Bra - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 May 15, 2007

I normally wear an A cup, so bras like this usually work fine for me. Since I love almost everything Patagonia makes, I decided to try this bra. I ordered the size small. The band fit fine, but the cup size was indeed "tiny". I looked like a C cup trying to fit in an A cup bra. This might be a good pre-teen bra, and it might work for AA cup and smaller, but if you don't fit either of those categories, I recommend you skip this one.

MSR Lightning Ascent - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2007

I had never snowshoed before, and I got the idea to start snowshoeing last winter. My husband was reluctant. I decided that if I was going to talk him into snowshoeing, that I'd better get us high-quality, lightweight snowshoes to make it as fun and easy as possible. My husband said he would try snowshoeing once, and that if he didn't like it, I could sell his snowshoes. Well guess what, these snowshoes paid off! He loved it! We had so much fun, and the heel lifters made it so easy to walk up the steepest hills. Now we're hooked on snowshoeing and can't wait until next winter. If you're considering these snowshoes, go for it. You will not regret it.

I have had this kayak for a year and can't say enough about it. I am not an expert paddler by any means, but this boat is great. It handles super, the seat is comfortable, and it is stable in the mild whitewater that I paddle. It is very well made, and the fabric and other materials are very durable. It is lighter than many inflatables, which is a real plus for lighter paddlers like myself. I considered several different brands, but I'm glad I went with the NRS Bandit!

KEEN Newport H2 Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2007

When I first saw these in the stores, I thought they were really ugly! Then I went to Hawaii and saw people wearing them everywhere--on the sidewalk, on the muddy hiking trails, in the water. I started to like how they look. When I got home, I decided I had to give them a try. Now I really like them--the way they look and feel and the fact that they are so versatile. One tip I can provide is that I found that the lighter colored ones tend to make your feet look wider/bigger. If your worried about your feet looking big, go with a darker color.

They are nice looking and well made, but unfortunately I had to return them due to sizing. They run really big! I normally wear a size 2 or 4 depending on the brand, so I ordered these in a size XS.
