Cloudveil Inertia Peak Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 24, 2007

These pants are ideal for any 3-season trip. Backpacking, climbing, or even spring ski touring with a light baselayer under them. The 30in has a 30 in inseam, which fits me almost perfectly (5' 5'', 145lb). The best thing about these pants is that lay look like a casual pair of khakis, so they're good for the bar too. Using the roll up tabs, I can roll them up to right below my knees, which is convenient for warm weather bouldering or hiking. They also have a fleece lined waist band and a higher rise, which is nice.

Petzl e+LITE Emergency Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 September 24, 2007

I agree, the eLITE is a great ultra-light, general purpose headlamp for lightweight backpacking or for stashing in your ten essential kit on dayhikes. I've also used it on late afternoon runs to increase visibility. Just cinch up the headband to fit around your arm or around your waist and turn it to "flashy red light" mode. The eLITE is also just plain cool-great gift for anyone that likes nifty design.

GoLite Ether Wind Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 24, 2007

This jacket packs down to fit in the palm of your hand, so it makes it into my pack on everything from dayhikes to climbs to multiday trips. I'd say it's almost worth having in your ten essentials kit. Blocks wind well and protects in light rain. If it does get soaked, I throw on my Patagonia DAS Parka and the Ether Wind Jacket dries in about 10-15 minutes. The front pocket is great for storing liner gloves or silk-weight balaclava. S size is a bit tight for my 5'5'' 145lb frame, but I have fairly wide shoulders.
