Nice Mitten

Outdoor Research Alti Mitten - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2009

I got these for skiing because I am a wuss and cannot stand cold hands. I just spent a day skiing in zero degree weather in Aspen and these mittens kept my hands warm!!! I know they are rated for hiking everest, but if you want the warmest ski mitten known to man, this is the one. Once caveat: these mittens are bulky and therefore it was more difficult to grip the pole. However, I survived, and you will too.

Great pack

Backcountry Access Stash Rider Backpack - 976cu in

Backcountry Access Stash Rider Backpack - 976cu in

Rating for this product: 4 January 29, 2008

This is an excellent pack. Although advertised as a pack for snowboards, it works quite well to hold skis. The quick release straps make it easy to secure skis to the pack without removing gloves or mittens.

I found this quite useful during a trip to Aspen, CO, where carrying skis is necessary to go to Longshot and the Hanging Valley Wall in Snowmass as well as the Highlands bowl at Aspen Highlands.

The water reservoir works well in mildly cold conditions (20 degrees F and above) but does freeze in extreme cold conditions (below 20 degrees F) but short of putting vodka in the pack, I do not know of any other pack that would hold up in extreme cold.
