Hestra Heli Glove

Hestra Heli Glove

Rating for this product: 4 June 17, 2009

These gloves are worth it! I've had tons of problems with cheaper gloves in the past and decided to pony up for these and am so glad I did. They've kept me warm through the coldest and wettest days. The leather is super soft which is nice for maneuverability, but I've already started to wear thin spots in the seams after a year.

too big and floppy

DAKINE High Roller Snowboard Bag

DAKINE High Roller Snowboard Bag

Rating for this product: 2 June 17, 2009

I ordered this last minute to haul my gear for an overseas trip and unfortunately had to make do with it. The bag is way big, a mounted snowboard plus boots, jacket, pants helmet, and other gear fit in the main compartments alone with room to spare. This means that a fully loaded bag is not only hard to lug around, but maxes out on airline weight limits. Also, my main complaint is that there is no internal support. The bag sags when lifted up at the end and rolled around, which means your board/skis bear all the weight, not good!

Backcountry.com Merino Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Backcountry.com Merino Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 17, 2009

The tailoring on the shirt is great for an athletic build. I'm 6' 170lbs and the medium fits snug like a base layer should. The longer sleeves are a welcome relief during activities like skiing and hiking compared to 'standard' long sleeves which tend to ride up the forearms. My only complaint was the unexpected "wet sheep" smell that comes about when the shirt gets wet. The smell faded after some washing, but was a bit of a turn off.

NRS 1in Tie-Down Straps

NRS 1in Tie-Down Straps

Rating for this product: 5 June 17, 2009

These are the straps used by the whitewater rafting company I work for. They are excellent quality and last years and years of abuse. A good rule of thumb for strap cost is to expect about $1 per foot of strap length, so these are a good deal.
