Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 3 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

October 18, 2010

Can this tent be set up without the tent? That is to say, with just the poles and rain fly? I'm looking at the options: either setting up the fly first in a downpour, so I don't get the mesh and inside of the tent wet, or skipping the main body and traveling light with the just the fly and poles (and maybe a footprint)/

CW-X Performx Tight - Men's

July 24, 2010

this isn't a perfect solution, but you could get some cheap military 'compression' shorts (they don't really compress, they're more for modesty I think) and wear them over the tights.

Stoic Merino Bliss 150 Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

July 15, 2010

is BC.com/Stoic thinking of making a hooded version of this anytime soon? I think that would be a perfect garment for the majority of conditions in which folks do stuff outdoors. I'd probably buy 2!

Fantistic, apart from the wrists.

Mountain Hardwear Transition Softshell Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Transition Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 19, 2010

I use this product for running/xc skiing, with a shirt underneath if it's quite chilly or even without one if it's just brisk. This jacket breaks wind almost as well as a little league team at a chili-feed. I think you could fit a thin fleece underneath this, but it is a pretty snug fit. I like that though.

The wrists are a little restrictive, pigeon-holing you into one mode of wearing, but the jacket is fantastic. However, the hood is Fantastic! with it, a small beanie is all I need for skiing even when it's quite cold out.

The pocket in the back I could take or leave. it's ok, but not great, and even a heavy set of keys bounces with you if you're running. I think my ipod nano was great though.

Oakley Gas Can Sunglasses

Oakley Gas Can Sunglasses

I got a 'military'sport version of these (still the same thing, just with the corners of the small version). I really like them. They stay on just fine, great quality, and the lenses come clean from my sweat and sediment just fine. They're my second pair of Oakleys, and I've come to trust the brand.

GoLite HydroCruise Lumbar Pack - 275cu in

GoLite HydroCruise Lumbar Pack - 275cu in

Rating for this product: 4 March 19, 2010

I like this piece. it's good for running, xc skiing, and I'm hoping to use it for some easy hiking come summer. If you adjust it right, it can sit pretty smoothly on your hips & back without a lot of jostling as you move. Also, I was able to fit a small baselayer, along with my phone, keys, and extra gloves between the 2 back pockets, and the strap pockets can hold gummies/gel easily, and the right side has a headphone port. Me gusta!

Backcountry.com Siphon Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 19, 2010

Not great at breaking wind, but fantastic otherwise. good fit, nice hood, and I love the inside pockets. Those are what make this a true keeper for me: I can stick gloves, hat, wallet, keys, in there, and all of a sudden I don't Really need a backpack for my commute.

Nice Piece

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 19, 2010

It's tough to get it on and off, but other than that, great jacket. It isn't super warm when you're just standing around, but I'd trust it down to five degrees Fahrenheit if I was going for a run.
It's a little warm indoors when I'm speedwalking from class to class with a backpack, but it's not too warm when I'm just sitting around. Dog hair doesn't seem to stick to it too badly, either, which is a plus.

hey, the description says this is made of "summer-weight Polartec Powershield softshell fabric", but then the tech specs call it Everest softshell fabric. are those the same thing?

Nice Socks and All...

Backcountry.com SynthTrail Crew Sock - 3-Pack

Backcountry.com SynthTrail Crew Sock - 3-Pack

Rating for this product: 4 November 21, 2009

...But the best part is mismatching them!
They're cheap enough you can buy 2 sets and mismatch the colors all you want. I actually bought 3 sets, because I'm really into mismatching different colors of the same thing.

One Obnoxious Downside: These things pick up hair and fuzz like few other socks I've had, and it'll stick on the sock through the wash. My house is infested with dogs, so I don't wear these unless I'm headed out the door or in shoes. :)

The North Face TKA 100 Glacier 1/4 Zip Fleece Pullover - Men's

The North Face TKA 100 Glacier 1/4 Zip Fleece Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 30, 2009

I got an older version of this thing awhile back, and I really like it. at one point, a cafeteria malfunction left it covered in mustard, and I thought it would only be good for sweaty, active, by-myself use, but it completely washed 's pretout after maybe 2 times in the laundry.
It's pretty warm, but it isn't good for biking in the cold, as the wind gets through it.
I got it for $20, and I'd gladly buy another if the price comes down that low again.

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's

September 2, 2009

Is this prettymuch a BC pullover version of REI's Mistral jacket?
I think they're both polartech powershield softshells, and I'm just wondering if getting this one is worth it, or would just be redundant.
