Five days on the AT with an "air pad"

Therm-a-Rest Neoair Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest Neoair Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 June 17, 2009

After five days on the AT "ridge running" in TN, this air pad changed my mind about "air mattress". I have used a Therm-a-rest pad for years, air mattresses being too heavy, and loved them but this NeoAir is the ticket to a good night sleep with little weight. I am 5' 9" and used the small sleeping pad, 9 oz plus the .4oz bag, using my pack as a pillow. It deflates quickly, rolls up to 3" x 7" and stores easily inside my pack. Easy to use and easy to carry.

Two major storms

Osprey Packs Goat Logo UL Raincover

Osprey Packs Goat Logo UL Raincover

Rating for this product: 5 June 16, 2009

Five days on the AT, two major storms on two separate days with rain blowing sideways. I cinched the shock cord tight on this new cover and my Osprey Atmos 65 pack stayed dry! Pack cover folds neatly in its own little built-in bag and stores easily!

Gregory Z65 Backpack - 3600-4332cu in

June 3, 2009

Write your answer here...I haven't tried the z65 but the Osprey atmos 65 fits like a dream and I am using it for extended trips on the AT. Weight distribution is the best I have ever felt, carrying most on my hips. I tried other packs with approximately the weight I carry in the store and then walked around for 20 minutes with the atmos. I could tell that I had weight but the balance was beautiful! I could bend, sway, stoop and bend over to pick up objects with no problems. I am 66 and have hiked for many decades around the US and this is the best pack i have ever used!
