Westcomb Mirage Jacket - Men's

September 30, 2009

Has this jacket changed since the last years model? Specifically, the fit of the jacket? I have seen that the previous version was short and boxy.

What are the pros and cons for this jacket having no collar? I assume it is designed to fit a hooded layer better?

Anyone else have small tears and/or fabric wear on the lighter weight fabric portions of the jacket? Specifically, on the front waist area near the pockets???

Backcountry.com Stoic eVent Shell - Men's

August 21, 2009

Jacket seems to be similar to the Westcomb Cruiser. I assume they are made in the same building. Both made in Canada, same materials (300 fabric lower and 560 upper body). Cayenne color is the same as the Westcomb redrock color (despite the jacket colors in Backcountry's photos). The only difference I see is the Westcomb's version has the 560 fabric come down farther on the arms. Also the Westcomb has pit zips and pocket placements.

Backcountry.com Stoic eVent Shell - Men's

August 19, 2009

How has the jacket held up skiing trees or riding lifts during the winter? Seems like the main material is rather thin, similar to a gore tex pac lite material.

Good Bag

Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 July 24, 2009

This is a very warm bag. I have slept in 20 degrees F without any problems. The bag is very lofty and comfortable.I noticed it has been losing some feathers, but nothing too abnormal. I am 6'3" and a long is perfect. This is a good all around bag.

Pretty sweet

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Plus Binding

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Plus Binding

Rating for this product: 4 July 17, 2009

I bought these new for last season. Shredded all year on them for both resort skiing and touring. Getting into them can be tricky, but you will get the hang of it. Very lightweight and easy to use. The toe friction plate is slightly worn so I might send them back or get a replacement piece from Black Diamond. Oh yeah, this model is way better than the older white model. Bueno!

Smith Passage Sunglasses - Polarized

Smith Passage Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 4 July 17, 2009

The glasses fit well and block light all around my eyes. Perfect shades for touring or fishing. The rubber ends really help to keep them on my face. At first they were kind of uncomfortable on my nose, but they seem to be better now.

Below the chest looks like 300 event fabric. Above the chest looks like 560 event. Can anyone else verify this?

Waterproof but not too durable

Westcomb Cruiser Jacket - Men's

Westcomb Cruiser Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 24, 2009

It does breathe well. It is a good shell for winter touring or spring corn skiing. I like the overall fit and the pit zips. The Redrock color does not resemble the image above. The jacket is red in person, not orange as seen in the picture. Very waterproof. The jacket is made of two types of eVent fabric. 300 and 500. The 300 fabric is thinner and I have noticed very small tears in jacket.

Great Jacket

The North Face Cipher Windstopper Jacket - Men's

The North Face Cipher Windstopper Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 26, 2009

So far this jacket is great for spring skiing. It blocks the wind well considering how lightweight the coat is. On a 35 degree day here in Utah I wear a medium weight fleece underneath and stay warm. Seems to repel water and breathes quite well.
