The North Face Tadpole 23 Bx Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

August 2, 2011

Handled the cold, snow, wind, and rain like a champ for 5 days! It does hold a lot of snow just below the main pole structure, can be an issue if it accumulates too much, but tent was not designed for winter backpacking. Lots of space for stowing gear in the vestibule, enough room for 2. Overall great NF product.

Marmot Limelight 3-Person Tent w/ Footprint and Gear Loft

July 13, 2011

Tent is able to fit in tight places. Not too many spots open on the trail with all the down trees. Gives you options on which side to use a vestibule if you have to pick.

Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pant - Men's

Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 17, 2012

Best pants I own, hands down. Good enough for an outting on the trail, splitting wood at home, or out in town. Strong and comfy, material can take a beating. Construction allows for movement in the legs, which is hard to find in a pant if you have bigger legs. True to size in 34*34.

Great bag.... mouth piece though....

MSR Hydromedary Hydration Bag

MSR Hydromedary Hydration Bag

Rating for this product: 3 April 17, 2012

The Hydromedary bag is the best on the market! Tough, light, durable, and holds the water well to fit in you pack sleeve. My problem came witht the mouth piece. It has a two-piece system and can slide easily out of the water tube. This happened on an outtin. My leg became wet because water was leaking out of it. I put it back in place, and have not had an issue again, but it is always on my mind now. I won't leave the bag in the tent over night because of it.

Makin' it SNOW in the BC club with Norrona!

Norrøna Narvik Gore-Tex Performance Shell Jacket - Men's

Norrøna Narvik Gore-Tex Performance Shell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 3, 2012

5' 10'', 208, wide shoulders and this jacket gives me room to move around! Ordered a large and its perfects. Length goes just past hip joint. Quality jacket; light, breaths well with vents, waterproof, zippers are solid, lycra thumbholes keep out any snow from sneaking in the cloves, hood fits over a helmet, and for a shell helps keep you warm. Can fit a mid-level down jacket under on cold days in the backcountry or on the mountain. Only complaint is it is tight on the hips as another review states, but its not a big issue for me (34 waist). This jacket is awesome!!! Blue color has gotten a lot of compliments. It is nice to have something different than everyone else, as everyone seems hell bent on Patagoochie and Spyder on the slopes. You will not be disappointed with this jacket or brand.

Simple, Solid, Sweet!

Mammut Broad Peak II Down Jacket - Men's

Mammut Broad Peak II Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 28, 2012

Great mid-layer or for those 20 degree days when your out and about. It is light!!!! Perfect for packing up and taking out on any adventure; takes up minimal space in the pack. Went XL, glad I did, fits like a large would in Mtn. Hardwear or TNF do. Few have this, like a previous review stated, everyone rocking Patagoochie, its nice to be different and stand out. My one gripe is it does shed feathers more than any other down jacket I have owned. Its not a major issue, but something I noticed, thats why I give it four stars.

KEEN Pyrenees Hiking Boot - Men's

KEEN Pyrenees Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 16, 2012

Light, simple, tough, comfortable. These boots are perfect for hiking simple trails. I do caution be careful of the terrain you take them one. Took them on a scramble and it did take a go tole on the boot. If the outer leather gets wet, as did mine going through snow, rocks put some good gashes and slashes in the leather. BC is great, simple exchange. I do not use these when its going to be wet or snow, more of a summer hiking boot. They are comfortable, waterproof, light, and keep feet warm. The KEEN.Dry membrane is awesome and works well for my feet. All the reviews here are accurate. Great boot for the BC or even on out and about days in town or around the yard.

The Real Deal!

Outdoor Research Axcess Pant - Men's

Outdoor Research Axcess Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 15, 2012

Pants are awesome! Have used these a few times and they have met expectations. Got them on S&C, so that was a plus. Pants allow for movement, no tightening on the legs or knees. They are well made and will hold up to the abuse of the mountain. I like to use them snowshoeing as well. Duel leg vents help keep heat regulation easy, so if you are making a mad climb, you will have no problem staying cool. 5' 11" 34 waist, and these fit perfect. Get these while you can. OR makes solid product.

Mountain Hardwear Kelvinator Down Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Kelvinator Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2012

Perfect mid-level down jacket. This jacket can handle most conditions you encounter. Extremely light, comfortable, and warm. Stuffs down to size of a Nalgine bottle. Went with the voltage color, can see hints of the down throw it, but I personally don't mind that. Size fits true to size. Also not too puffy so can throw your shell over it for the slopes or if conditions get nasty in the backcountry. This is my go-to jacket on a cold day out in Sun Valley!

Asolo Bullet Gore-Tex Boot - Men's

Asolo Bullet Gore-Tex Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2012

Great all around boot! These are a steel so grab one now. Use mine for snowshoeing and hiking and they keep the water out, feet warm in the winter, cool in the summer. They are well made; leather has not stretched at all, have held up well with a lot of miles put on them. Souls have also kept their tread extremely well. For the boot style they are light, which has been very nice on some longer backpack trips. Support is superior. These are the best boot I have owned to date!

Solid Boot, few design flows for longevity

KEEN Oregon PCT Hiking Boot - Men's

KEEN Oregon PCT Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 November 24, 2011

These are a great boot for short to middle distance hikes. Have had mine for 3 months and have enjoyed the comfort. Little heavy for any long distance backpacking. Overall the boot is well made, but I do worry if it can handle any sharp, rocky terrain with some of the designing on the boot. For example, the lock down strap wraps around the heal and is a thin nylon piece. It is in a vulnerable position to be nicked by rocks and other trail monsters that like to sneak up and get you. The heal has a lot of glue piecing the heal together, which over time is prone to coming apart and leaking. If you can get them on sale, not a bad hiking boot to pick up.
