Pieps Freeride Avalanche Beacon

It doesn't matter what beacon you have, as long as you have practiced with it and feel comfortable using it. The fastest and best executed practice search I've ever seen done was with an old analog beacon that was about 15 years old. It's a cheap, small, reliable beacon, and as long as you make the commitment to practice with it, it works just as well as any other beacon.

injinji Performance Micro Toe Sock

It really depends on if you struggle with blisters on your toes or not. I only have one pair and I use them for long runs where I would probably get blisters or hotspots otherwise. It's really too bad they don't sell them in packs though because they're great. For a situation like yours I'd probably get two or three pairs and use them when you feel like giving your feet a break. Sorry this answer is so late... I hope it will be able to help some people out.

Amazing Bindings

22 Designs Axl Telemark Binding

There's not much I can say about these bindings that hasn't already been said but... I have been having the time of my life on them. I just recently switched to tele and the only other binding I had used before was on a rental setup. They didn't feel stable at all, and I had to hold back all day on them. But after buying these, telemarking took on a whole new meaning. Within a couple of days out on them, I can now go almost as hard as I was on my AT setup, and they are a lot better on the uphill as well. They seem like the perfect combination of flex and stability for me when I have them on the second pin setting. If you're just getting started, don't go for the excuse of starting out with a cheaper binding just in case you don't like it, go for these bindings and you'll be hooked... I sure am.

I'm 16, about 5'5" and 120 lbs so would i want to play it safe with the 165, or look toward long term wear with the 172? Also i enjoy an occasional romp in the park, and i was wondering how these skis would hold up there.

It would work fine for all around sking, but if you were more into sking all that powder that you get, you might want to get something wider. I don,t know what you ski now but i would get something around 100mm to 115mm to float in it. But if you are sking average width ski,s now the kung fujas might be a great step up.
