Mountain Hardwear Microchill Fleece Zip T Pullover - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Microchill Fleece Zip T Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 4, 2009

I have a few fleece's but wanted a light weight 100 wt fleece, this was the one I bought it on sale. It is just what I would expected I think all fleece is pretty much created equal so I doubt it is worth the premium for the mountain hardwear name. If I had it to do over again I probably looked for a little cheaper fleece or even gotten a heavyweight merino wool for the same price. Granted the fleece is more durable than the wool. That is my 2 cents. Would have given five stars for less money.

Vasque Velocity VST Trail Running Shoe - Men's

November 3, 2009

I do not have any specific experience with these shoes, but I do know that if you loosely stuff newspaper in wet shoes/boots with the top hanging out, it will dramatically decrease the time it takes to them to dry.

Osprey Packs Vector 28 Rolling Gear Bag - 4600cu in

August 14, 2009

Most of the time to calculate volume you multiply length X width X height. If you measure in inches, then the result will be cubic inches. So 24 X 14 X 12 = 4032 cubic inches

Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Softshell Jacket - Men's

June 22, 2009

I have the Alchemy and my wife has the synchro, so I can't give you a perfect answer b/c I can't fit in her jacket. I get hot when wearing the Alchemy jogging in anything above 30F w/ a light baselayer. I really wish mine had pit zips. The synchro seems to have less bulk and probably a little cooler, although it may not breathe as well. It definately does not seem as durable as the Alchemy. I am 5'11" 200lbs and I wear a large. i can get 2 base layers, and a fleece under it no problem. Or a base layer and a pataonia down sweater vest under it. However, I only do this when I am not active!

Princeton Tec Quad Headlamp

June 22, 2009

I have a couple times, I am always a little disappointed. However, there is a wide range in quality for rechargables, my batteries are NiMH and a few years old, the batteries seem to be more of the problem than the light. For a quick trip or wearing around the house, they are just fine.

Gregory Z 55 Backpack - 3050-3660cu in

June 22, 2009

No specific pockets, I just put my quart bottle in the large shovel pocket on the back. It is sort of a catch all pocket for things I need often, like a water bottle. However, you cannot retrieve it w/o some help or taking off the pack. I use it to fill my water bladder.

Gregory Z 55 Backpack - 3050-3660cu in

June 22, 2009

Any one would work, it has a sleeve, and a place for the hose to come through. I do not use the sleeve though. Once the pack is stuffed full, it is hard to squeeze a bladder down into the sleeve. I just put it on top below the "brain" pocket.

Great Light

Princeton Tec Quad Headlamp

Princeton Tec Quad Headlamp

Rating for this product: 4 January 26, 2009

I really like this light. I bought one for my wife, liked it so much I bought one for myself, loved it so much I bought one for Christmas presents! It is comvertable on the head, is good for running, it doesn't bounce all over the place on your head. It is barely bright enough for trail running and no where near bright enough for mountain biking. However, for around camp, running on smooth relatively smooth trails, seeing in the dark, reading, etc. this light cannot be beat. Batteries last well also. I have owned two other name brand headlamps, and they were not as good as this one. Would have given 5 stars if it were a little brighter, although I haven't had a better one!

Superfeet Trim-To-Fit Green Insole

Superfeet Trim-To-Fit Green Insole

Rating for this product: 5 January 26, 2009

I have a pair in my running shoes, dress shoes, and hiking boots. They are great! I wish I could get a pair in my cowboy boots! When I get a new pair of running shoes I get a new set of insoles, and put the old ones in the dress shoes. That way I sort of recycle them.

Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Oasis Crew - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Oasis Crew - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 26, 2009

Thins is my new favorite baselayer. It feels fantastic and manages odor very well. It is very slim fitting, so if you plan on wearing as an outerlayer or around town, consider sizing up a bit. I would give 5 stars but it seems fragile, as it has a few small holes from getting in contact with velcro in the washer!

Princeton Tec Quad Headlamp

January 21, 2009

Rechargeable batteries will definitely last longer in the long run, but won't last as long per charge as lithiums. You should expect about the same amount of time as traditional alkaline batteries. Because the Princeton Tec Quad headlamp is voltage regulated, rechargeables or lithiums won't hurt the LEDs or any of the internal components. You should get about 1000 charges for the quality rechargeables at about 20 hours on high of burn time per charge (compare that to 50+ hours on high for lithiums).I am adding to the above answer, I don't think they will be as bright as with the lithiums or alkalines because most rechargeables are 1.2volt instead of the typical 1.5volts. I have run rechargable NiMh batteries in other lights with satisfactory, not excellent, results.

Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Softshell Jacket - Men's

January 21, 2009

In the Tech Specs, there is a part that says "Lining: Fleece" that leads me to believe that the lining is indeed fleece....I am editing the above answer it is fleece-like lining. Not really like your regular palartec lining.

Great Pants

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 16, 2009

I typically wear a 36 waiste 32 inseam pants. I purchased the LARGE size. They were way to long, and had to get them hemmed. Not to big a deal though. I love these pants, I have had them for about 3 years. I purchased a second pair after the first year b/c I was afraid they may quit making them. I have worn them multiple times per week over 3 years and they are still holding up and looking great. In the summer I usually only wear the shorts, and if you wash the shorts to much w/o washing the bottoms, the color can become slightly mismatched, now I wash both most every time, and the discoloration has quit being an issue.

Great but needs pit zips

Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Softshell Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 15, 2008

This jacket is great. It is very durable and remarkably warm. Water resistance is incredible. The sleeves have plenty of room for a fleece underneath on really cold days. I would give 5 stars if it had pit zips. I replaced a M. H. Windstopper fleece with this and it had pitzips. I really miss those. Although this Is a superior piece. Also a removable hood would have been nice. Those seem to be out of style though. All in all it is just like they describe it except it is easy to overheat.

Old faithful

MSR WhisperLite International Multi-Fuel Stove

MSR WhisperLite International Multi-Fuel Stove

Rating for this product: 4 December 15, 2008

Can't go wrong with this one. Field maintenable and burns just about anything. I just swing by a gas station and put regular unleaded gasoline in it. You can't beat that for convenience. Wish it was easier to cook with low heat. But with some practice it isn't a big deal. It has never let me down. About 10 years old.

Gregory Z 55 Backpack - 3050-3660cu in

Gregory Z 55 Backpack - 3050-3660cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2008

I used this pack to hike in for a basecamp type trip. 8 miles in and with about 50 pounds (7 days). It was overloaded but showed no signs of wear. Created a hotspot on my lower back. But that was probably bc it was overloaded (or my pants). The hike out with less food was perfect. I liked it so much, I bought the womens version for my wife. We both wore them into the grand canyon, down to the river and back out. They were great. The pack sits away from your back in the middle, and allows for fantastic cooling. It was definitely appreciated in the canyon. It is cooler than wearing a camelback.

MH Synchro Jacket

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2007

Love it, love it, love it! It is a perfect light weight jacket that I wear around town and also while out running on chilly days. The jacket has a feminine fit that makes any woman look great. I just wish I had gotten the one with a hood and the pockets don't really keep your hands warm, but it shields wind great and the fleece lining makes the jacket warm. Packs great and love the black color.
