W/R/T This and the ADK Bears

Bear Vault BV450 Solo Bear Resistant Food Canister

Bear Vault BV450 Solo Bear Resistant Food Canister

Rating for this product: 4 May 14, 2009

The evidence of this vault being broken into by bears in the adirondacks is unclear. NYDEC has said that the bear that broke into this version was a rouge bear and that other bears had not figured out how to get into the two snap top BV450's.

However ADK bears are crafty and sadly trained that it's easier to play with one of these plastic food filled toys than to hunt their own food. Therefore the best thing you can do is not to rely on the BV but rather camp OUTSIDE of the bear prone Flowed lands-Marcy Dam corridor.

Marmot Kitzbuhel Vest - Women's

December 14, 2008

NO. Not at all. My girlfriend is 5'8 and slender. She tried the vest in a small and extra small. While the body fit changed the length did not. It basically stopped at her belly button or just below. Conversely other vests fell down by her the top of her pants - which for an insulating layer is what you want. If you have anything close to a normal length torso this vest will be too short for you. It's a shame too because the vest is a very nice vest.

GU GU2O Sports Drink - 2lb Canister

GU GU2O Sports Drink - 2lb Canister

Rating for this product: 5 July 15, 2008

Does a great job keeping your salts up without loading you down with sugar. Has a nice tart taste so when you are running you don't have to deal with that overly sweet taste that makes most of us want to hurl.
Also great if you are hungover.

SportHill Traveler Jacket - Men's

SportHill Traveler Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2007

I bought this jacket as a light soft-shell style jacket to wear at Alta in March, and it has surpassed all my expectations. It blocks the wind well, sheds snow great and breathes very well. I have worn this jacket as an outer layer in weather as cold as the upper 30s and has high as the low 60s. I have also worn it as a mid layer under a wind/rain shell as insulation. In fact I wore that setup hiking in 10 degree temps and was extremely comfrotable- I didn't overheat at all.
I have also worn this jacket running along a cold windy river in the northeast, and it worked great.
Truly a wonderful product.
