great pants but need to go long

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2008

Great pants, durable and dry quickly. I had to search a bit for the long version though. The regular length was a little too short. With the legs zipped off the shorts only came down to mid thigh, it looked like an ABA game was going down

Good MTB pack

CamelBak Lobo Hydration Pack - 3L

CamelBak Lobo Hydration Pack - 3L

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2008

perfect size for a multiple hour mountain bike trek. the amount of water it holds is crazy. Plenty of pockets for anything you want: mini tools, powerbars, phone, gloves, etc. One excellent feature is a plastic clip inside one of the zippered pouches that will retain whatever you hook to it (ie keys) even if you are a doofus and forget to close the zipper.

OK sock

Lorpen Coolmax Multisport Light Shorty Sock

Lorpen Coolmax Multisport Light Shorty Sock

Rating for this product: 3 March 20, 2008

overall an OK sock, it is comfortable, dries quickly and does not smell to bad even after long hikes. the shorty runs up higher than expected on the ankle so I mostly use it with hiking boots. I tore one pulling it on the other day, maybe not the strongest sock out there

POC Receptor Helmet

POC Receptor Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2008

for skiing this is a great helmet:
Pros - comfortable, cool colors and a rubbery exterior finish that people seem to dig. the different ear, neck, and inside pad variations make it very customizable.
Cons - heavy, thicker than most helmets, which probably means safer but it looks a little bulky.

I will add some more comments once I have tried it out in the water.

As advertised

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2008

A really nice jacket: compact, lightweight, very waterproof, vents are in great locations, roomy hood will fit over a hat. My only complaint is the sleeve length is a bit short, I need to use a glove with a skirt to cover my otherwise exposed wrist

Merrell Chameleon Wrap Mid Gore-Tex Hiking Boot - Men's

Merrell Chameleon Wrap Mid Gore-Tex Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2008

I was pretty happy with these boots. They are a little heavy but I found them to be supportive enough for day long hikes with a medium weight pack. the Gore-Tex was top notch, kept my feet totally dry while navigating thru ankle high streams, very impressive. The traction was also great even when wet

small mountain patrol pack

DAKINE Session Hydration Bike Pack - 400cu in

DAKINE Session Hydration Bike Pack - 400cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2008

I took the bladder out of this and stuffed it with all the first aid supplies I need as a ski patroller on a small mountain. The storage compartments are great and roomy. Lots of strap adjustments make for a great customized fit, and they don't slip loose with use

The North Face Apex Bionic Vest - Men's

The North Face Apex Bionic Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2007

A great vest, I have taken several spills on rails and boxes and there are no tears or wear spots visible. Remarkable how well it blocks wind. If you have an athletic build, size down if you want it form fitting. I am 6'3", 46" chest, 34" waist and the medium fits comfortably over medium weight base layers.

wicked pants

Oakley Axis Pant - Men's

Oakley Axis Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2007

The harvest gold is a killer color, brighter than the picture; looks great with my '06 Volkl Karma's. Very waterproof, rode all day in the rain and stayed totally dry even sitting on wet chairs. My waist and inseam are both 34" and the large is a nice fit but a hair short over my ski boots. Moderate insulation and great vents at the inner thigh and between the hip pockets.

The North Face Decagon Jacket - Men's

The North Face Decagon Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2007

nice jacket but not sure if the price is reasonable so I gave it a 4. really waterproof, so much so that one of the breast pockets was literally holding water after a rainy day and nothing leaked on the inside. pit vents are real nice but you really have to stretch your arm to work the zipper smoothly. tight hood, tough to get over my big melon.

good glove

Burton Combo Glove - Men's

Burton Combo Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2007

go a size bigger than normal because of the extra glove liner. I got the large and they are still a bit tight. A great deal though considering you get the pipe/park glove liner.
I got the Dijon and they match closely the Oakely-harvest gold and The North Face-adder brown.

Oakley Wisdom Goggle

Oakley Wisdom Goggle

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2007

very comfortable on my face and great field of vision. They were not very compatible over my helmet, even with the helmet strap. So I cut out the adjustable slides and resowed the headband to a length the fist comfortably under my helmet with no plastic pieces diggin into my brain case.

great pant with lots of features but they fit a little tight. The pistripe looked awesome but I returned them b/c of the fit.
