Columbia Eluna Lux Softshell Jacket - Women's

Columbia Eluna Lux Softshell Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 21, 2008

I bought this jacket for my wife and we both love it. She loves the faux fur lining on the inside of the collar and the sleek look. I have to agree - it's very simple and stylish. The perfect in-between season jacket. Seems better suited to wear around town, than as a tech piece on the slopes, but thumbs up nonetheless!

Venom Godmother Jacket - Women's

Venom Godmother Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 4, 2008

If your wife is like mine and never really bought into the layer strategy with a thin shell on top, then this jacket is the answer. It has great insulation and other features like wrist gaskets and a powder skirt, removable hood, etc that my wife loves. Plus the look of the jacket is very stylish - with lots of nice details. Bottom line - it has everything a heat challenged woman wants - warmth, looks, and solid tech features.

Marmot Randonnee Pant - Men's

Marmot Randonnee Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 October 26, 2007

I bought these bibs sight unseen based on their rep and spec list. On paper, they seemed to have exactly what I wanted. In reality, they have all the features, it's the material that's the problem. The outside of these bibs are not made for any type of abuse. Case in point, first bc trip in these - I sat on a rock and ripped a 2 inch hole in the seat. Marmot fixed it, but not under warranty, so it cost 40 bucks. At least they added a cordura panel to the seat so that it won't happen again. If you are looking for something burly, this isn't the pant.

Marmot Randonnee Ski Pant - Men's

Marmot Randonnee Ski Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 September 24, 2007

I got these for xmas last year, sight unseen because they looked good on "paper" and were one of the only hardshell bib pants that come in something other than black. Durability is a huge issue with these pants, as others have mentioned. I noticed it the second I picked them up. The outer fabric is thin and feels flimsy to the touch. Not nearly as burly as the Theta SK (for example). On my first backcountry trip in these pants, they ripped in the seat on the first rock I sat on. Marmot refused to warranty the repair and charged me 40 bucks to fix it. At least they reinforced the seat with Cordura for me. All in all, I had high hopes for these pants, and feel like they haven't lived up to expectations.

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 9, 2005

I bought my Beta AR about a month ago and couldn't be happier. The jacket is very light and seems virtually indestructible. I have used it several times now for skiing, both in-bounds and in the backcountry and it's proven to be everything that it claims. My initial hesitation on this jacket was the shorter "jacket" cut, since I was coming from a longer parka. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the extra length in the back, which honestly is where you need it most. So, it turned out fine in that department. Great pockets, great hood, great fit. Thanks for the great deal and awesome service.
