SOLID LIGHT WEIGHT SOFT SHELL

Backcountry.com Shift Composite Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 31, 2008

I HAVE WORN THIS JACKET ABOUT 5 TIMES NOW... VERY BREATHABLE, NON-RESTRICTING, STYLIN' AND VERSATILE. ACCOMODATES A 100 WEIGHT FLEECE NICE, ANYTHING MORE THAN THAT AND IT WOULD BECOME BULKY AND LOOSE ITS NON-RESTRICTING FLAVOR. JUST AN FYI, IT IS FOR SURE A HIGH OUTPUT LIGHTER WEIGHT SOFT SHELL. TRAIL RUNNIN', BIKIN', SNOWSHOEIN', HIKING, BACKPACKIN', CHILLIN' WITH BEERS AND THE BOYS AT THE LOCAL PUB. FOR IT'S INTENDED PURPOSE IT'S A SCREAMIN' DEAL COMPARED TO THE COMPETITION. VERY HAPPY WITH THE PURCHASE.

MID-WEIGHT SOFT SHELL WINNER

Marmot Snaz Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 31, 2008

WELL CONSTRUCTED SOFT SHELL... THE POLARTEC WINDBLOC SOFT SHELL IS A HIT. GOOD MOBILITY, WARMTH AND PROTECTION... HAVE WORN IT HIKING IN COLD WEATHER AND IN THE WIND... PRETTY DECENT ON THE BREATHABILITY. CAN'T ATTEST TO THE WATER RESISTANCE OF THE FABRIC AS OF YET... MAYBE ANOTHER POST IN THE FUTURE???

GREATH LIGHTWEIGHT SHELL

Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 31, 2008

GREAT PROTECTION AND CONSTRUCTION. STRAIGHT FORWARD WITH NO IRRITATING FEATURES.. I LIKE THE FIT, AND THERE ARE NO SHORT TORSO CONCERNS LIKE OTHER MOUTAIN HARDWEAR JACKETS. VERY COMPRESSIBLE AND I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS...

POTENTIAL, BUT DID NOT LIVE UP TO IT..

GoLite Sastrugi Hooded Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 March 31, 2008

WHAT HAPPENED? THIS WAS POTENTIALLY A SICK GOLITE SOFTSHELL... WHY AREN'T ALL THE SEAMS TAPED? WHAT UP WITH THE WEAK ZIPPERS? I MEAN, FROM THE TIME I FIRST PUT IT ON I COULD TELL THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE MAIN ZIPPER, AND IT FAILED AFTER ZIPPING IT ON AND OFF ABOUT 15 TIMES. FABRIC IS NICE, AND IT IS A BURLY SOFT SHELL.. THE HOOD IS SWEET. FULLY SEAM TAPE THE JACKET AND ADD A BEAFIER ZIPPER AND IT WOULD BE A WINNER... IT'S NOT A LIGHT WEIGHT SHELL SO THAT SHOULDN'T MATTER.

POTENTIALLY A GREAT JACKET

Outdoor Research Tremor Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 March 19, 2008

1ST OFF I HAVE TO SAY THAT I LOVE O.R. PRODUCTS.. THEY ARE METICULOUSLY CRAFTED WITH GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL. THE FRENZY IS VERY ATHLETIC AND FORM FITTING, CAN ACCOMODATE A 100 WEIGHT LAYER WELL. IT IS MORE OF A HYBRID SOFT SHELL/HARD SHELL. NOT YOUR TYPICAL SOFT SHELL. THE FRONT ZIPPER DESIGN IS CUMBERSOME AND EXPENDS MORE ENERGY THAN I'M WILLING TO DEAL WITH FIDDLING AROUND. THE HOOD IS A PAIN AS WELL. TO MAKE THE FRENZY A PRODUCT I WOULD BUY: INTEGRATE THE HOOD, ATTACHED HOODS NEVER SEEM TO FUNCTION AS WELL. RE-DESIGN THE CHEST POCKETS. IN FACT, GET RID OF THE CHEST POCKET, ADD A NAPOLEON POCKET AND A ARM ZIP. MAKE A MORE PLUSH STRETCHIER SOFT SHELL FABRIC AND IT WOULD BE A HIT!

GREAT FIT

Outdoor Research Mithril Stormshell - Men's - Outdoor Research Customer Appreciation

Rating for this product: 4 November 7, 2007

I especially like the fit of this shell... It is athletic, yet gives ample room for heavy layering.. I can wear my 700 fill down jacket under it no problem. Decent stretch, can't testify to the breathability yet as I haven't worked up a sweat in it. Nice hood adjustment solid looks.

SOLID AS ALWAYS

Mountain Hardwear Gneiss Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 1, 2007

AGAIN, ANOTHER SOLID PRODUCT FROM MH. WARMTH ABOUT THE SAME AS A 200 WEIGHT FLEECE, MORE COMPRESSIBLE, GOOD WINDPROOFNESS, BETTER MANUEVERABILITY UNDER A SHELL. THIS IS THE SAME INSULATOR PIECE THAT COMES WITH THE TRAVERSE TRIFECTA SYSTEM. VERSATILE PIECE TO OWN, ME GUSTA MUCHO. SHORT TORSO CUT.
