MontBell Alpine Light Down Jacket - Men's

MontBell Alpine Light Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 29, 2008

Compared to a down jacket that really adds an insulating layer, this thing is like two layers of paper filled with a bit of toilet tissue. It needs about 2 ounces more down to really work the way you'd expect. Not puffy. We want puffy.

Cool binding, but needs time in the saddle

Naxo nx01 Alpine Touring Binding

Naxo nx01 Alpine Touring Binding

Rating for this product: 3 July 1, 2004

The Naxo is an engineering marvel, but I've been amazed that a binding that had a year in Europe for the Euros to beat on it would still have problems once it was imported. It sounds like the latest, to be sold for this winter of 04/05, might be the Fritschi killer, but we shall see.

Mammut CMH Barryvox Transceiver

Mammut CMH Barryvox Transceiver

Rating for this product: 5 October 8, 2003

After reading Lou Dawson's review on his website at http://wildsnow.com/articles/barryvox/barryvox_review.html, I knew this was the beacon for me. It's small, it works.

By the way, are you tired of beacon reviews that read like some rocket scientist went wild? Read Lou's stuff, he keeps it simple and to the point.

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Ski Brakes

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Ski Brakes

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2003

Using skis strapped to your body is dangerous. They trap you if you're in an avalanche, and beat you up if you fall. Get rid of your straps and install brakes. I got a pair of these, and feel much better now that they're on my skis. They work fine, no problems. I found good info on installing these at http://wildsnow.com/tips/diamir_brake_install.html
