Disappointing Shoe

Patagonia Footwear Finn Approach Shoe - Men's

Patagonia Footwear Finn Approach Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 February 11, 2008

I've been buying Patagonia gear since 1980 and I have a lot of it. Everything from early fleece and hardshells to their new wool base layers, all of it Fantastic gear. This is the first Patagonia product I've ever been disappointed in. I like the styling, the eco-friendly sole, the light weight and the fit. Unfortunately, the shoes lack support for trail use, so I use them for day-to-day casual wear. Even so, after 4 months the inside lining started to wear through to the foam at the heel and is continuing to get worse. I've had the shoes for 10 months now - the outside still looks new, the sole hardly shows any wear at all, but the inside is going fast. If you're looking for a serious hiking or approach shoe - I'd consider something else.

Nice But Not Great

Icebreaker SuperFine 200 Tech T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker SuperFine 200 Tech T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 February 11, 2008

I have a few Patagonia Merino Wool items, but bought this IceBreaker Tech T because I liked the color. It's a nice / adequate piece of gear and has all the merino wool properties I like - soft, odor free, wicks well, breathes, etc. However, for me the fit for my XL is not true to size and I was disappointed to learn it is made in China. Looks like I'll stick with the Patagonia made in USA merino wool items even though they cost more and for me have a better fit.

Great Pants

Patagonia Stretch Jackalope Pant - Men's

Patagonia Stretch Jackalope Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 12, 2007

Have owned a pair of these for over a year and they are great. Comfortable fit, just the right amount of stretch and excellent quality. Use them to hike in year round - even in winter with a base layer. Water repellent, wind resistant, plenty of pockets.

Great Base Layer

Patagonia Wool 3 Zip-Neck Long-Sleeve - Men's

Patagonia Wool 3 Zip-Neck Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 23, 2007

My first wool base layer and very impressed. Great base layer for Winter hiking, but will work well with soft shell in Spring or Fall. Soft, warmer than same weight synthetics, wicks well, fits true (stretchy and conforms - not tight or restrictive), does not hold odor and is made in USA. Pricey, but offers Patagonia quality and is eco-friendly.
