CamelBak Antidote Reservoir

September 26, 2011

Does the Camelbak Reservoir Dryer work with the Camelbak Antidote Reservoir? Can I get some of those yellow drying hooks from the Camelbak Antidote Cleaning Kit individually? Thanks.

DoubleBack buckles not secure on small harness

Petzl Luna Harness - Women's

Petzl Luna Harness - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 July 26, 2010

I use this harness size Small and am on the smaller side. Though convenient, I found that the DoubleBack buckles were not secure for multi-pitch climbing. The waist and leg buckles loosen throughout the day, especially when rappelling. This doesn't seem safe so I don't use this harness. Watching your waist buckle loosen by several inches on a hanging rappel is no fun. I've used several harnesses over the past decade and never seen anything like that. If it weren't for the faulty DoubleBack buckles I would give it a good rating, as I like the fit and design. It is a very light harness.

Safety concern

Petzl Elia Climbing Helmet - Women's

Petzl Elia Climbing Helmet - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 July 26, 2010

The Elios works fine with my ponytail. It is important for a helmet to cover the back of your head. This women's version is less safe. It's surprising that Petzl is trading space for a pony tail for safety, considering that is the whole point of a helmet.

awesome

Kinesys SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray 4oz

Kinesys SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray 4oz

Rating for this product: 4 August 9, 2009

This is the best sunscreen ever. It sprays on and dries fast, so your hands don't get sticky right before you head up a lead climb. You can refill the 1 oz bottles to take up with you on climbs.

The fragrance free version is even better as it doesn't leave you smelling like sunscreen.

It's a little heavy for the face - I got a zit after trying it on my face and I am not acne prone. So for my face, I'm still using Banana Boat Sport SPF 50 and Kiss My Face Hot Spots SPF 30.

Great shoe

La Sportiva Katana Rock Climbing Shoe - Women's Discontinued Rubber

La Sportiva Katana Rock Climbing Shoe - Women's Discontinued Rubber

Rating for this product: 5 February 17, 2009

I have narrow feet and low arches and for many years only climbed in Mythos. I've found that Katana and Tradmaster also work for me. I wear size 7.5 or 8 in street shoes, 8.5 in running sneakers, and 38 in mythos, 39.5 in tradmaster and 38 in katana. The katanas are not that comfy for wearing all day but they perform well.

Stretchable yet durable

Patagonia Simple Guide Pant - Men's

Patagonia Simple Guide Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 31, 2008

I found the fabric breathable for 80 degree temps in Joshua Tree. Stretchable yet durable. They're definitely very technical climbing pants. Didn't have any problem keeping the pants on. My girlfriend said my butt looked cute in them.

There are better jackets out there, especially for the price

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Women's

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 February 29, 2008

The zipper on this jacket didn't work right. That's okay, but in general the cut of the sleeves was strange. They were too wide. Otherwise the black/grey color scheme and the material are lovely. I liked the way the jacket was a little long to cover the waist. I didn't keep the jacket because of the defective zipper but I'm not sure I would've anyway because of the unflattering cut of the sleeves. The sleeves were also too long.

Fabulous

Outdoor Research Echo Jacket - Women's

Outdoor Research Echo Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 28, 2008

This is a great jacket. Very flattering. The cut couldn't be any better. I have been wearing it alone as an outer jacket during the day and at night I throw another fleece over it that's not windproof for some extra insulation.

Seems too cool looking to actually use in the wilderness but I will give it a try sometime. :)

Don't expect to wear the hood around the city - works but looks a little silly because it wraps around your face like you're a diver. But that keeps you warm for when you need it.

Love the brown color and the thumb holes.
