Be aware that kids size 3 and up do not come with the elastic lacing system. Not a big deal, but a disappointment to my 9 year old when they arrived and he was expecting them to have it, as was I. The plastic clip that holds the elastic lacing system on the smaller sizes broke two days after my 7 year old got his. Could've got warranty service, but I shouldn't have to on a two day old shoe and he wanted to keep them as they were.

Bottom line, great shoes, questionable quality on the elastic lacing system, less than stellar communication on the part of backcountry on which laces come with which sizes.

One final note, while CS has been great in the past, this time Bc.com agents told me multiple on the phone and in chat sessions that they would get the snafu resolved asap as we had a trip coming up which is why I had paid for expedited shipping. They didn't come through and I had to repeatedly contact them for follow up which ultimately was. "Call TNF for warranty service, they're great about this kind of thing." Hopefully, this was an anomaly and not indicative of the direction of CS @ backcountry.com.

I've been using and near-abusing this watch for over two years and it has never let me down. It's easy to set, reasonably accurate and rock solid. Others have expressed quality concerns. Perhaps there was a bad batch that went out, but mine has been great and it's been dropped, soaked, hard whacked against rocks and trees (not on purpose!) and it still holds up.
