Outdoor Research Zenith Glove

Outdoor Research Zenith Glove

Rating for this product: 1 January 4, 2009

Looking for a warm glove with a lot of dexterity I was initially excited about the Zenith Glove by OR. The first pair I had were a medium and they were way too small (my fingers actually hurt with the gloves on). I exchanged them for a large but I still had problems getting in and out of the gloves. If you're not careful when taking your hand out of the removable liner, you can pull the lining back and it's nearly impossible to get your fingers back into the glove. The grippy palm of the removable liner also causes too much friction at the shell, making the process of putting the shell on and off really difficult.
I spent one hour in sustained 30 degree weather and my hands were cold. I was reasonably active within that hour so I had plenty of circulation going in my hands. The only good thing about this glove is the dexterity. The leash feature is cool and the grippy palm on the shell is nice. I've always been a fan of Outdoor Research gear but I will be returning these gloves for a refund.

Great Shirt

Carhartt Work-Dry T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Carhartt Work-Dry T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2009

Most Carhartr shirts in other fabrics are often much larger to compensate for shrinkage after washing. These work dry shirts fit far better and breathe really well. I also recommend the collared work dry shirt. If you need a good work shirt to keep you dry through the day while still looking good for the ladies at the office, this is the shirt for you.

Definitely order a Size Larger

Mountain Hardwear Tuckett Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Tuckett Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2009

I'm typically a medium in everything I wear even including some older MH gear I have. This shirt in Medium feels like a small so go bigger than your normal size. I love the cut of this shirt and it breathes well in most conditions. Tucked or not its a great all around casual shirt that should bring you years of enjoyment. I bought two!

SmartWool Adrenaline Light Crew Hiking Sock

SmartWool Adrenaline Light Crew Hiking Sock

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2008

These socks look and feel great! They're ideal for a variety of conditions and best of all, they have a superior resistance to odor and wetness. Just make sure you wash them inside out, let them air dry and they should last you a long time.

Great Bag

The North Face Base Camp Duffel Bag - 250 - 9070cu in

The North Face Base Camp Duffel Bag - 250 - 9070cu in

Rating for this product: 4 August 25, 2008

This bag was a great addition to my luggage. Its waterproof and has ample room (I went with a Medium to pack 4 days of winter storm and wildland fire gear) for everything you need to pack. I've had mine for about six months and its held up fairly well. The ID window has a tear at the stitching but its not a big deal. Otherwise, its a good bag.

Amazing Jacket

Cloudveil Koven Jacket - Men's

Cloudveil Koven Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 7, 2008

I use this jacket for skiing and at work. The work I do is outdoors and will usually require some standing in the cold to moderate aerobic activity. This jacket will aspirate amazingly. It blocks the wind and moisture completely out while keeping me warm and dry on the inside.

The fit is perfect for me. The jacket isn't too baggy and the cut is just right. The generous hood and sealed zippers are another nice feature to this jacket.

The only thing it doesn't have is a powder skirt. Aside from that I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone.

I'm actually going to buy a second one for a spare. Its actually on sale here at the goat farm! Sweet!

Warm but bulky

Cloudveil Zero-G Jacket - Men's

Cloudveil Zero-G Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 3, 2008

This is a really warm jacket. Everyone advertises this jacket as a softshell but when you get your hands on it, it feels more like a hard shell.

This jacket has some really nice features. Great zippers and pocket placement with a really nice powder skirt to finish it off.

For some reason the mediuim I tried in this jacket was a bit roomy in the front. I had a good 4 to 6 inches of jacket I could pull from the body.

Very nice jacket, just beware of the larger sizing.

Good Duffel

Arc'teryx Duffels

Arc'teryx Duffels

Rating for this product: 4 July 24, 2007

I first purchased the v10 model of this bag and it was way too big for my needs. I was simply looking for a bag that I could put about four days worth of clothing and fire gear in. The v8 was definitely a better size for me. The construction of the bag and the materials are top notch. There is a zipper hood at each zipper to keep weather and dirt out of the bag. The bag is a little pricey for a duffel, but well worth it in my opinion. Just be careful with what version you buy. The V10 is the medium and it's way too big for most people not on an expedition.

Decent Work Shirt

The North Face Sequoia Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face Sequoia Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 24, 2007

I enjoyed the fit of this shirt while out and about at work. However, the shirt doesn't breathe as well as it could during more rigorous activity. The back vent is great but really didn't help me aspirate while on the job. I also couldn't easily roll up and secure the sleeves as advertised.
Aside from the reduced breathability (the shirt being almost entirely made of polyester), it has a great fit.
