great hoodie but hold out for 50+% off on steepandcheap

Backcountry.com Siphon Street Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men’s

Backcountry.com Siphon Street Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men’s

Rating for this product: 4 July 30, 2009

This is a great hoodie but way overpriced.

My primary gripe is that the outside fabric started to pill up after wearing it about ten times. Also, I have to jam my hands into the pockets, they could have slightly larger openings.

Still, it has a great cut and is my first choice of the dozen or so hoodies I own. I am 5'-7" 155 Lbs and a medium fits comfortably but isn't baggy anywhere.

my go to jacket

Backcountry.com Siphon Primaloft Hooded Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Siphon Primaloft Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 16, 2009

This is a great go to jacket for winter in new england. It blocks wind and has enough insulation so you can throw it on top of a t-shirt on all but the coldest days. But it is still thin and light and doesn't feel bulky (I can play disc golf in it without problems). It is low key enough to wear around town but works fine for lift accessed skiing. In extreme cold or rain or for serious aerobic activities I wouldn't use it, but 4 of 5 days it gets the job done.

Zipped up all the way, the collar can be a little restrictive if any of your base layers have collars sticking up.

I'm 5-7, 155lb and a medium fits great with enough space to toss a couple layers underneath and still maintain a good cut.

More Zipper Issues

Marmot Adventurer Jacket - Men's

Marmot Adventurer Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 September 10, 2008

Every zipper on this jacket - main, pockets, pitzips - consistently gets caught on the adjacent fabric. Using any zipper is basically a two handed process - one to zip and one to pull fabric taught so it doesn't land in the zipper. I'm not impressed by the waterproof-ness as I expected. Some water beads but a lot soaks in also.

durability issues...

Mountain Hardwear Vented Sun Hat

Mountain Hardwear Vented Sun Hat

Rating for this product: 3 August 5, 2008

I bought this hat and have had a mixed experience. It is lightweight and cool and blocks sun well. However, after only a few weeks of occasional use, both of the side snaps busted apart and the plastic clip on the headband cord flew off. It is still functional, but I would expect better durability from Mountain Hardware.

Long arms

Backcountry.com Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 11, 2008

Fit is snug and athletic. Blocks wind very well. I found the arms are a bit long as people have mentioned and the inside of the sleeves grab and pull whatever shirt you are wearing up your arms. Still, a great piece to wear around town.
