  • Stomping Grounds:

WV is my base camp, I roam the planet from there
  • Bio:

I'm a gear nut, but I also won't buy junk. If I own a particular piece of gear, then I think it's probably worth buying again. I tend to do extensive testing of my gear before I ever put it into a situation where my trip/life/enjoyment depends on it.

Petzl MYO XP Headlamp

Petzl MYO XP Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 April 1, 2009

The Myo is one of my favorite pieces of gear. I have used it in many types of conditions>

-Damp, Sandy caves of west virginia
-Freezing Cold in the mountains with tons of snow
-Rain forests of Australia in the pouring rain.
-Around the house when the power goes out.

Works flawlessly every time

The battery life is good, it is comfortable to wear and super bright. It is much brighter then any other headlamp i've seen. A little on the heavy side but worth it. One of my favorite things to do with the myo is go for night hikes because its almost like hiking in daylight.

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's

December 26, 2008

I have this jacket and I wear it in the winter as my main parka. It seems to do very well with temps below freezing. I typically need to put a base layer on (besides a tshirt) once it gets lower then 10 F. I have not owned the compressor but looking at it in the store I can't imagine it would be very warm. The insulation seems thin. Get the sub zero and add some nikwax to the shell to help shed the rain if it gets above freezing. I truly love my coat. Wear it all the time.
