Too hot for spring too cold for winter

Patagonia Footwear Drifter GTX Hiking Shoe - Men's

Patagonia Footwear Drifter GTX Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 14, 2009

I'm not crazy about these boots. I'm not gonna give em a free pass because they're expensive and made by Patagonia. They arent versatile enough for the price. As uninsulated lowtops, they're practically useless in the snow. As a Gore tex lined shoe, they're WAY too hot for even moderate cool days in the spring. Theres also a ridge that hits the part of my foot funny that might make your feet hurt. They might work better for you, just be careful and sure that they're what you want.

Goodjacket, but don't pay retail!

Marmot Sharp Point Softshell Jacket - Men's

Marmot Sharp Point Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 28, 2008

This jacket seems thin like it won't keep you warm in the least, but when you get moving in it believe me it will more than suffice. I would look at this jacket as something to be used primarily when engaged in aerobic activities. You wear this puppy with a lightweight baselayer and a mid weight fleece, and if you are moving you WILL sweat. I just got back from riding my bike in 37 degrees and windy and I was burning up. Its ok for just running around town but in my opinion it really shines when you're performing. It good for days when you know you won't need a hood, break out the hard shell for when clouds threaten.

Way too much collar

Marmot Super Hero Jacket - Men's

Marmot Super Hero Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 June 12, 2008

The collar on this thing is huge. If it's not zipped up all of the way what on earth do you do with it? When you do zip it up, theres a gaping whole between your neck and the collar. Theres no way to cinch it tight. I would recommend something with a smaller collar. That thing drives me nuts.

WAYYYYY overpriced

Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan - Men's

Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 May 7, 2008

If it didn't have the Arc'teryx label nobody would care about this sweater.I bought it on sale and anybody who thinks this is worth retail simply has too much money to spend. The black one that I bought is a LINT MAGNET.Its TERRIBLE to be walking around with all that lint, so don't buy black no matter how much you want to. The fabric also is fraying in one spot and I've only washed it once and according to their instructions. You can get a cashmere sweater for the same price. Why buy this synthetic. I made a huge mistake buying this. Its just a cheap polyester sweater- period.

An average boot masquerading as hardcore

Columbia Titanium Ice Dragon ll Winter Boot - Men's

Columbia Titanium Ice Dragon ll Winter Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 March 3, 2008

Columbia should just get out of the boot business. They make great clothes but their boots are terrible. These boots are rated to -65 degrees. I'll guarantee you they come nowhere close to this. I went sledding with my daughter and I had on thick thermal socks. My feet were cold within a half hour. They'll keep your feet warm when its warm and conditions are ideal or if you aren't out for more than a few minutes, or if you're doing some serious hiking and generating your own heat, but when push comes to shove these boots are overpriced junk.

More corporate cost cutting

Columbia Bugabootres Winter Boot - Men's

Columbia Bugabootres Winter Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 December 11, 2007

It seems everything you buy these days breaks immediately or doesn't work as advertised. These boots are no exception. These boots are cold, they aren't even waterproof. Just another example of corporate corner cutting. I got these after returning Columbias Gore-tex winter hiker. These boot as aren't as cold as those, but they're still pretty bad, considering the cost. Don't do it.

Most over rated gear ever

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 December 11, 2007

I have a precip that came with the now discontinued Thunder Ridge. This jacket can't keep you dry from the parking lot to the grocery store. It guzzles Nik Wax to no effect.Maybe mine is defective. I bought mine for a winter jacket since the Thunder Ridge comes with a really warm liner, but as far as rain gear goes, my precip is extremely disappointing. And I doubt theres a 90 dollar jacket anywhere that can weather any "nasty storms". Gore-tex can barely keep you dry when things really turn wet. Thats my experience at least.

Marmot Northshore Jacket - Men's

Marmot Northshore Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 April 25, 2007

This used to be a pretty good company. But the last few things I've bought from them are absolute junk. There are WAY to many good companies out there still to be buying stuff from marmot.I don;t what happened to these guys, they've DEFINITELY lost their mojo.
