  • Bio:

I'm a college student living in Valdosta, GA waiting for the day I can leave this place in the dust and head for the mountains. I am new to climbing but fully addicted. I love cold, wet, miserable days in the mountains. All of this stemmed from my original passion of backpacking.

Patagonia Stand Up Pant - Men's

July 1, 2009

Check out the Patagonia website. They now offer a long inseam in almost all of their pants. It's great. I have been in the same boat for a long time but Patagonia is now catering to the tall people.

Dissapointed

Highgear TerraTech Altimeter Watch

Highgear TerraTech Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 2 April 8, 2009

I got this watch on Steepandcheap.com thinking it was a good deal. Granted it was a good price but poor quality. Before I even got to use it in the mountains I flew to Boston. On the flight back everything went crazy. It said it was 740 degrees Fahrenheit!! It stayed that way until the batteries died. Also the barometer never worked again and the altitude was stuck on 1,000 ft. Once the batteries died so did my desire to use this watch. Spend the extra money and get a Suunto.

Mountain Hardwear Beryllium Jacket - Men's

January 28, 2009

I'm 6'4" but only 160lbs. Tall and skinny. Will this jacket work in the Large? I'm always afraid of XL's because they are usually way to wide on me. Any suggestions?

MontBell Alpine Light Down Jacket - Men's

MontBell Alpine Light Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 9, 2009

I agree that it does run a bit small. I'm 6'4" and the large fits great everywhere but is a little short. I´m currently wearing this jacket in an internet cafe in Quito, Ecuador. We are heading to Cotopaxi today and it will be on my back the whole way. I have already climbed in it on Cayambe, which was very cold. Its super warm and packs down really well. Great jacket and another great product from Montbell.

Montrail Torre GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Montrail Torre GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 28, 2008

I got these boots to use for a month long backpacking trip in the N. Talkeetnas of Alaska. They held up great while I was training here in Georgia. But after only a couple of weeks the boots were starting to separate at the synthetic part and the leather part. It got so bad that dirt and water was filling the sides everyday. They wore great and never hurt my feet I just wish they were more durable. Montrail did send me a new pair free of charge however.
