Kavu Bamfield Zip Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 13, 2009

Fits true to size, I ordered a large and I have a 41 inch chest and 5'7" 180 pounds. Warm for the thickness, I like Kavu I now have more than 5 jackets made by them and none of them have dissapointed me.

Petzl Altios Climbing Helmet

Petzl Altios Climbing Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 December 30, 2008

When wearing this helmet you can hardly tell it is there. While wearing your vision is not obstructed. It has a large adjustable range and I recommend over the elios, it is worth the few extra dollars.

Metolius Ropemaster Rope Bag - 1224 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 30, 2008

The construction of this bag surpasses every other rope bag I have had. The functionality of it is great and it holds my 70 meter rope with room to spare. It is easy to cinch up small so that I can stuff the rope in the bag into my pack with ease.

Outdoor Research WinterTrek Hat

Outdoor Research WinterTrek Hat

Rating for this product: 5 December 30, 2008

Like mentioned above, I was also surprised at how light weight this hat is, while it is light it is warm and blocks the wind very well. The fit is pretty true to size.

Smith Prodigy Goggle

Smith Prodigy Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 December 30, 2008

I have never had a fog problem with these goggles when I have with numerous others. The graphite igniter lens does a great job in lower light conditions but will also do ok in bright light. Would recommend a darker lens for super bright days though.

Sorel Hood River Boot - Men's

December 29, 2008

These boots run a little big. I normally wear a size 10.5 and a 10 fit best with these. Also keep in mind that these boots are an all around bigger fit. Meaning fit width and length.

Five Ten Piton Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Piton Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 December 22, 2008

Given with crack shoes, I ALWAYS size UP! I could not imagine sticking my foot in a crack sized down, you really cannot expect to get the same performance if you are going to downsize in a crack shoe!!!

Great pants, Contrary to what others may say...

The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant - Men's

The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 22, 2008

I have been rocking the same Freedoms for 2 seasons now. I have never had a problem cutting the cuffs, but I ski slightly less than shoulder width apart, mostly Utah powder. I keep my edges sharp so if the cuff thing was going to be a problem it would be a problem with my technique, not the pants. They have kept me warm with one good base layer to -35 degrees F. I have also worn these pants in the rain, not intentional, none the less no problems ever. I have put so far close to 120 days in these pants. I'm wondering if you are talking about a completely different pant? I wear a large and I am a 33/34" waist and 34" inseam, I'm 5'8" and 180 pounds. They fit perfectly. Rock the Freedoms!

Durable, Great clarity!!

Smith Hudson Sunglasses - Polarized

Smith Hudson Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 5 December 22, 2008

I have worn the same pair almost daily for 3 years and now they are finally stretching out, but they are still sick river glasses. The polarized lenses offer reduced glare in most situations, especially good for any river rats out there, or just for driving around as well. I prefer glass lenses normally, but these have held up very well for being moderately well taken care of. I contacted Smith and they are sending me a new pair free of charge because they are stretched out! I have a Large size head and they work for me!

Chaco Z/2 Diamond Stealth Sandal - Men's

Chaco Z/2 Diamond Stealth Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 22, 2008

I have had 7 pairs of Chacos, different models and soles. Make sure you floss them (pulling the straps back and forth) or they will wear out faster. The only way to get rid of the cinch up problem is to wear them more, they will get over that phase I promise! They always do that in the beginning few weeks of wear, but I guess I am used to it. The rubber is sticky and make them great for anything from river rafting, approaching climbs, hiking/backpacking and casual wear. They get more and more comfortable as you wear them, my most comfortable pair are my oldest ones. I normally wear a size 10-10 and 1/2 street shoe, with Chacos I wear a size 9 and they fit great. I also have a wider foot and have had no need for wider width chacos.

Chaco Zong Sandal - Men's

Chaco Zong Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 22, 2008

I have had a bunch of chacos and for me these took some getting used to. They will stay on your foot very well, but it took me a few weeks of wear to feel comfortable hiking anything technical. Make sure you floss them (pulling the straps back and forth) or they will wear out faster. The only way to get rid of the cinch up problem is to wear them more and get them wet, they will get over that phase I promise! I normally wear a size 10-10 and 1/2 street shoe, with Chacos I wear a size 9 and they fit great. I also have a wider foot and have had no need for wider width chacos. These eventually became my second favorite pair!

Chaco Hipthong Sandal - Men's

Chaco Hipthong Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 22, 2008

These Chacos stay on your feet very well for the style! These are basically the ultra sick version of the Flip Chaco. Keep in mind they offer more support than the flip, but not half as much as the Z 2. I normally wear a size 10-10 and 1/2 street shoe, with Chacos I wear a size 9 and they fit great. I also have a wider foot and have had no need for wider width chacos.

Durable Rescue Bag and rope.

NRS Kayak Pro Compact Rescue Throw Bag

NRS Kayak Pro Compact Rescue Throw Bag

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2008

Again to shadow Kelly, be sure you stuff the rope into the bag correctly, this will make all the difference in the world for distance. One thing to keep in mind when you have a throw rope on board, always make sure you have a river knife for when you get in those tricky situations and need to cut your rope! So far my throw bag has had over 150 days on the river and other than fading still going super strong!

Great harness for support and overall comfort

Petzl Calidris Harness - Men's

Petzl Calidris Harness - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2008

I originally got this harness because of the awesome support it provides especially for the back. It has a larger back piece to it. I have a waist size 33 as well and had to get the #2 size because I too had trouble fitting my legs in the loops on size #1. This harness is awesome and recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable fit while not jeopardizing overall performance.

Classic will always use Black Diamond ATC Belay Device

Black Diamond ATC Belay Device

Black Diamond ATC Belay Device

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2008

have been climbing for 9 years now and I will always use an ATC device, several climbers claim ATC devices are not as safe as a Grigri but I disagree. Lighter, faster, better all around. I use with ropes from 9.5mm in diameter to 10.5mm and it works great with those diameters. I weigh 165 and have belayed people weighing from 50lbs. to 230lbs. and have never had a problem with falls or anything of that nature.

Awesome gate, super light!!

Wild Country Helium Clean Wire Quickdraw

Wild Country Helium Clean Wire Quickdraw

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2008

I really like these draws, I like the space they offer to put a rope through the gate when open for clipping. and the awesomeness of how light they are like said below is for a short time hard to get used to! I mostly use these for clipping in the chains since a lot of times they are the only draws on my harness when tradding single pitches.

Great Small pump for maintaining air pressure

Aire Double Action Hand Pump

Aire Double Action Hand Pump

Rating for this product: 4 November 12, 2008

this pump is pretty hand when you need to cut down on the amount of room taken up. I would not recommend this pump to fill up your raft, just to maintain pressure, but it would be fine to fill up an inflateable kayak. Double action great for size and price, but again if you are filling up a raft get something bigger!

Wildcountry maybe best cams on my rack...

Wild Country Technical Friends Camming Devices

Wild Country Technical Friends Camming Devices

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2008

wild country cams are awesome, Quality is way up there and they are cheaper depending on size like said. when compared with larger sized cams for example the #5 wild country and # 6 BD cams, the wild country is 34 grams lighter, with almost exactly the same range. So just personal preference but I go with #4's and 5's wild country and smaller I go with camalots, then some wild country integrated into my smaller sizez.

Black Diamond Neutrino Carabiner

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2008

I didn't use to believe in color coding my rack, but once I tried it my climbing efficiency went through the roof, these biners are the way to go and they are pretty light with reasonable pricing. Do it!

great shoe, better with re-sole!

Five Ten Anasazi VCS Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Anasazi VCS Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 4 November 11, 2008

This shoe I have found to be great on sandstone! I have a wide foot and bone spurs on my heals so they fit great. The only complaint is the sole that it comes with wears out super fast, but that is ok because once you get them resoled they climb much better. (given you take them to someone that knows what they are doing)

the best thing to happen to Mad Rock was the Shark!....

Mad Rock Frenzy Climbing Shoe - Men's

Mad Rock Frenzy Climbing Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 November 11, 2008

The best thing that Mad Rock put out was the shark but since they discontinued those these are the next best for crack climbing from mad rock, for a crack shoe I don't recommend going with mad rock shoes. The initial sole is not spectacular, they don't stick well and they wear out quickly. I would recommend the 5.10 pitons for a sick crack shoe that won't let you down. I have a wide foot and usually go a 1/2 size up depending on material and brand for crack shoes.

La Sportiva Mythos Climbing Shoe - Men's DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

This is an awesome shoe, one of the best for smearing and granite in general. Be aware that there is a break-in period for these shoes, they may not be super comfortable until they are sweated in a good amount. I have re-soled 3 times and still climbing strong!

La Sportiva Miura Climbing Shoe - Men's

sick stiff crack shoe, just what you need for crack climbing

Five Ten Piton Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Piton Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2008

The pitons are a sick shoe for cracks and actually prove to do pretty well smearing because of their stiff nature. Rubber high up on the toe side enables you to stick in cracks awesomely. I do have a wider foot and these are the second best crack shoe I have found yet, next to the Shark by Madrock (which is no longer made). These shoes rival the Mythos for smearing quality suprisingly as well. Great Shoe. The more you climb them the better they perform!
