Lorpen Merino Light Ski Sock

Lorpen Merino Light Ski Sock

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2009

My husband really enjoyed them on our recent ski trip. His feet never get cold, so I got him the light version. Great decision for him: kept him at comfortable temperature, while providing excellent support for his calves. Will definitely buy more pairs.

Great pants ... for shorter legs

Millet Summit Pant - Women's

Millet Summit Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2009

First, customers need to be warned that (at least when I purchased them), the sizing table was shifted by one column. I bought S in disbelief (but according to the table) and had to exchange them for M. I measured both pairs and they corresponded to XS and S from the table, respectively. So M measures exactly 32 inseam but still looks pretty short on me. Usually 33 is long enough for me (I am 5-10), so there must be something strange with the cut.

Other than my length problems (which I am sure most people don't care about), these are great pants. There is some elasticity to the fabric indeed and they are very comfy. I don't use the straps (they are removable), as I don't need them, so the pants are easy to use all day long. However, the higher waist is helpful to keep your waist covered. I got a midweight merino base layer to wear underneath but on sunny warmer days I was getting toasty (still dry though). Ideally dry and comfy in the snow storms.

Excellent in any way

SmartWool Midweight Zip Top - Women's

SmartWool Midweight Zip Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2009

If you are on the taller side, the Ibex Zepher Sport Top is a bit longer. Or, you may take the SmartWool in a mens size (like I did). All of these are high performers in terms of quality, fit, comfort, wear, odor-resistance, washability. The label says that one can put them in the dryer but I have not dared that yet.

My husband got these in Long (he's 6-2) and they look great on him, very formal, almost like tuxedo pants:-) He is pretty happy with functionality as well.

My princess dry and toasty on the slopes

SmartWool Midweight Zip Top - Women's

My daughter wears 2 of these layered (S+M) when cooler with nothing else under the ski jacket. In wormer days 1 might be enough. Very soft (she won't tolerate anything scratchy) and excellent fit. I got myself a mens S, to make sure it is long enough (I am 5-10, she's 5-8 still).

Worked great for my husband on this ski trip (underneath unlined GoreTex pants). A bit tight in the calves area compared to the rest.

SmartWool Midweight Zip T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

SmartWool Midweight Zip T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 10, 2009

I am a 5-10 tall woman, who sometimes buys mens for better length fit. This top worked great for me for skiing. I actually layered it on top of another excellent merino midweight (Ibex Zepher womens) on colder days without anything else underneath my breathable ski jacket. I find that important to reap the full benefit. If I layer a polartec sweater on top of the wool base, it does not breathe as well as 2 wool layers... not shocking, I suppose:-)
