Thanks Dave, that makes sense. North Face provides a specific volume of down that will cover 550 cu.in. per ounce of down used. What they don't tell is the ounces of fill provided for the jacket. Wish they would do that for future reference, it would help when ordering online.

I just got the Black Hawthorn and mine does not detach from the jacket. You can detach the fur liner, but the hood itself will not come off. Not sure if the different colors have a difference, or if there are different models.

Nice Jacket

The North Face Hawthorn Down Jacket - Men's

I ordered the jacket thinking the insulation thickness would be similar to that of the McMurdo; however, the Hawthorn I purchased has a much thinner insulation. Both are rated for 550-fill. I really liked the styling of the Hawthorn as it is a coat you can wear on a normal day without it looking like a dress. Very thick outer skin too great for blocking the wind and water. Wore it to a Chicago Bears game last weekend, and it was great at keeping me warm and protected from the water and wind. Although the temp was about 35 or so. Still have yet to test it in the sub-zero temps. I know the McMurdo works very well for those, I'm hoping the Hawthorn does as well.

I'm 5'-10" 160ish and a Large is perfect for me. The sleeves are a little long, but I like the larger coat.

Does anyone know if the Hawthorn is supposed to be as "Puffy" as the McMurdo Jacket? I purchased the Hawthorn because it doesn't look like a dress, but my dad has the McMurdo and the insulation is much thicker. Both have a 550-fill rating.

Beats your average headphone

Skullcandy Titan Bud Headphones

My ipod standard headphones broke on my so I had been the market for some new in ear ones. Always been skeptical about paying a bunch for headphones, but these looked pretty sweet. I got the Green and White ones (Go State) off Tramdock for about $20. Great for the price. Really crisp sounds. Bass isn't that good, but what do you expect from headphones. Just watched 300 on my laptop and it gets the job done. Great noise cancellation too, can't wait to use them on the plane.

So Fresh and So Clean

Got the White Gloves and I'm pumped. I finally found a pair to match my Artic White coat. These are pretty sweet too, the finger mobility is awesome. Haven't tried them in the snow yet. I think they will be fine in Colorado, but I live in Michigan and think they may get a little in Chilly when it hits -10. Nice job though Burton, great product once again.
