Jetboil Gourmet Cooking Set

Jetboil Gourmet Cooking Set

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2008

We bought this system plus an extra Companion Cup and the coffee press. When we made the conversion from car camping to backpacking, I thought we had to kiss good food goodbye. Au contraire. You can cook up a nice omelet with the fry pan. And, when they tout auto-ignition, trust me, it works -- I used the Jetboil in the pouring rain in the Quinault rainforest. Hot chocolate never tasted so good. The Jetboil also solved the problem of "how do we fly somewhere and camp." The cookset travels clean in your checked in baggage, just don't pack any fuel in there, OK? This has truly opened new territory for us. Oh, and the cooking utensils pack up small, the handle slides down. 100% excellence in design, all around.

Sea To Summit The Kitchen Sink

Sea To Summit The Kitchen Sink

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2008

Oh yeah, this is a kitchen sink, and as noted by other reviewers, a whole lot more... backcountry bathtub, laundry basket, miscellaneous carryall device, whatever. Handy trick: At night, fill it with water and turn on your headlamp, adjust it just so... voila you have a mirror. I'm buying another one of these ASAP, they're too handy to own just one.

Oh so worth it

The North Face Ultra Gore-Tex XCR Trail Running Shoe - Women's

The North Face Ultra Gore-Tex XCR Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 28, 2007

I ordered these trail runners specifically for wet-weather, soggy, muddy, snowy winter runs and they have more than met the need. The footbed is incredibly comfy with no break-in period required. Pair 'em up with SmartWool sox & matching Gore-tex gaiters and you will stay both warm and dry. These shoes have totally changed my attitude about working out in winter...from why-bother to can-do.

Kelty Mantra Tent 6-Person 3-Season

Kelty Mantra Tent 6-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 February 1, 2007

We love the design of this tent for family camping, but were disappointed in the durability of the fabric. The poles are very, very snug and seem to exert too much pressure on the outer sleeve of the tent. We had holes appearing in the fabric after only a couple of uses. I patched them up because we like the layout of the tent( the rainfly makes a great "front porch" for gear storage overnight). But next time we buy a tent, I will look at another brand.
