watch update

Nixon 51-30 Watch - Men's

Nixon 51-30 Watch - Men's

after wearing the watch for a few months i thought id include an update:

the black band is susceptible to scratching, exposing the silver coloring underneath -- i have several mini scratches from everyday use. also, ive noticed that many of the pins in the band and parts of the clasp (where it meets the band that move from natural use) are exposing the silver from the paint chipping off. im guessing nixon would cover this under warrantee but seems kind of cheap from a somewhat pricey watch. the main face unit is still flawless though -- they should have used a better spray paint for these things...

Nixon 51-30 Watch - Men's

Nixon 51-30 Watch - Men's

i got this watch at a local shop in town. i went in wanting the all black chrono w/ the PU band but opted for the the tide version w/ steel band -- i figured i was already spending a bunch, get the better band. the all black chrono isnt really 'all black', the digits and dials are white. my first attempt scored me a super squeeky watch -- when i would shake my wrist to adjust, the band would squeek a high pitch metal sound (also i found a spot on the watch where the black coating didnt hit and could clearly see the silver underneath the paint). i called nixon and they said this shouldnt happen and go exchange it for a good one. when i went back to the shop, the other watch they had available had the same problem. so i went to another location a few miles away and went for the exchange. i found a non-squeeker but after getting home noticed there was a greesy fog underneath the glass and the rotating bezel didnt line up correctly -- the '0' didnt meet the 'down arrow' exactly but in the middle of the arrow and the first minute indicator. so i went to another location to swap it out again. the 2 models they had available at this shop both had squeeking but was minimal and i figured all these watches are just cheaply made -- i assume they have poor quality control at nixon. besides all that BS, the watch sure looks cool and is not as heavy as i thought, even w/ the steel band. i do have to be careful when wearing it, i seem to smack it against everything -- i smacked it against my car and was relieved when it chipped the paint on my car and not my watch! if you do get one of these, examine it carefully, it should be perfect for 450.00+ dollars...

i got this watch primarily for taking in the water and knowing when to get out. i never really had any problems w/ it but the strap started to deplete after about a year. also, now the battery is dead and you have to take it in somewhere to have it professional replaced -- kind of inconvenient...

good goggles / strap coming apart

Anon Figment Goggle

i got these in painted white w/ the silver mirror lens. the lens is actually very transparent and not very reflective. i didnt have any problems w/ the actual lens, it never fogged up unless i was huffing and puffing and naturally itll fog a bit -- but i noticed after 5 days of riding, the straps elastic was starting to uncoil right at the hinge. not anything major but a bit annoying since these are brand new. i guess i can buy a replacement strap if it comes to that...
