Dynafit TLT Speed Binding

February 14, 2011

first time newbie
its come down to the TLT speed or the TLT vetical ST. Question is is the extra features worth the weight? Or should I just deal with it and go for lighter binding? I plan on using them for long tours and winter alpine approaches.

MSR XGK EX Multi-Fuel Stove

August 2, 2010

personal experience. use Jet Fuel. burns clean but be sure to blow flame out just before it goes out on its own to avoid sooting. Jet will be avialiable as all military aircraft use it. note Jet is availiable world wide.

Patagonia Runshade T-Shirt - Short Sleeve - Men's

Patagonia Runshade T-Shirt - Short Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 16, 2010

I got several for climbing and have used them for mountain biking as well. They have worked to expectation and beyond. Very comfortable and offer better solar protection than cap ones. They also deliver a bit more style for that lunch break when returning to the uncivilized world in town.

Norrøna Narvik Gore-Tex/Primaloft Long Gloves

January 3, 2010

going to be pulling a winter assault snow shoeing glacier work followed by some rope work and rock climbing. I am expecting the temps to be hovering around 0. I have some over mitts that have done a decent job on lesser technical activities but looking for something that will allow for handling ropes and possibly pro.

Vasque Radiator Mountaineering Boot - Men's

December 31, 2009

personally I think over boots will not be necessary but insurance is insurance. My comment is these boots clamp down pretty good but if they start off a little tight, circulation can be compromised. lean towards half to full size larger than what you would normally think. I have used these in sub freezing weather for days on end and never ever had cold feet. I did however remove the bed liner to give a little more wiggle room. a side note the super fabric is tough and seems virtually impervious to crampons and fumble footing when the going gets dicey. the boa system rocks when its flippin cold and you have the heavy gloves. no hesitation these boots work.

great approach pack

GoLite Jam 2 Pack - 3100cu in

GoLite Jam 2 Pack - 3100cu in

Rating for this product: 5 September 6, 2009

I Recently went on a three day alpine climb in Yosemite. I picked up this pack needing an approach pack that would be able to be stuffed into my regular pack. This pack is sick! It is big enough for a 70 m rope, a soft shell jacket, a hydration bag, climbing shoes and power bars and snacks for my climbing partners. I used this pack all day while pulling the west arete on Mt. Conness. The features most appreaciated are the ability to compress and adjust pack, the ability to expand when the load calls for it (rope in vs in use), and the belt pouches that kept a handy supply of power bars and shot blocks while in the climb. I would recommend this pack without reservation. The only caracteristic to be aware is being so light comes at a price of durability. After being beat on over several climbs with complete disreguard there were signs of wear and tear but the dyena grid did stop any tears from running. All in all it has become an essential piece of alpine climbing gear.
