Bio:
I'm a Utah native who loves all she has to offer. I love pretty much anything outdoors. Growing up with a dad whi is a 20+ year scout master you spend more than the average child's time hiking and camping. I taught myself to ski at 12 and got into climbing pretty heavily at 20. At 26 I'm no "expert", but I can get down anything on the mountain and on site more 5.10's then not.

La Sportiva Testarossa Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe
March 10, 2011
How the shoe will fit is a much more complicated than how big your foot is or what street shoe size you were. There are several aspects to consider. Your foot shape and your climbing style are two that make a big difference. These shoes are a somewhat sizable investment to be making without doing proper homework, so my suggestion is go to your local shop and try them on. After that, try everything else they have on as well. Unfortunately this will really be the only way you can guarantee a good fit for you.
That being said, here is what I can tell you. In my experience La Sportiva's tend to run slender, I have wide feet with low arches and La Sportivas dont fit me very well. Another very key aspect of this shoe to keep in mind is that though part of the upper is leather, it is backed with a synthetic lining. Meaning the shoe will not stretch like a conventional full leather upper shoe. You mentioned dropping down to a 9 or 9 ½. I would guess this is too small.
My guesstimated size for you would be around a 43. For a more aggressive fit, the toe box of the shoe should be small enough that your toes do not extend out from your foot, but they should not be crushed. Think of the way you curl your toes under before trying to stand on your tippy toes. If the shoe is too tight it may be too painful to put your full weight on your toes, and you wont be able to wear them for long periods. The shoe will break in some, so a little tightness is ok, but dont count on them stretching.

Kahtoola MICROspike Traction System
December 21, 2010
Here is the sizing chart from Kahtoola's web site, since BC's didn't show the XL. With your Asolo's a bit on the larger size, being backpacking boots, the large might be a little tight. Depending on what you are doing with them this could be a pro or con. The great thing is BC has unconditional returns, so if you buy one and decide you wish you had picked the larger or smaller after using them for a season or two you can still trade. Assuming you want these for hiking not shoveling your drive way I would say get the L, worst case you have to trade.

Sterling Chain Reactor Canyon Sling
December 14, 2010
I use a Metolius PAS which I hitch to my belay loop, it works great! The hitch should really only pinch the sling if you take an actual fall, one aproaching factor 1 or higher. This product is desinged to eliminate that by allowing you to choose the right length for the anchor without the unzipping problem of a daisy chain.

Five Ten Moccasym Climbing Shoe
February 9, 2010
Like Thunder Horse said; these are leather uppers and will stretch about 1/2 a size. Where your Anasazis are synthetic and had a straight out of the box fit.
Honestly I wouldn't size up at all, and depending on how tight your Anasazis are you might even want to size down to accommodate the stretch of the leather.
More information about how your Anasazia fit and how you want these to fit would help us answer your question better.

They want to hook you with one really nice draw, so you spend the extra dough on their draws rather than go buy a bunch of cheap ones. :P
Honestly the one draw won't do you any good, and the OK is not their best biner. It will be cheaper to just buy the Grigri and Sama separate. Then pick up some Am'Ds and a William. Their draws are the best but others work and are much cheaper.

La Sportiva Miura Climbing Shoe - Women's Discontinued Rubber
January 29, 2010
It sounds like you like your running shoes a bit big with room for thick socks. I would say you are probably close to 7.5. One thing to remember is that the Muira is made with a leather upper so it WILL stretch. About a half a size is all though, not the 1 1/2 or 2 sizes some of these women are reporting. So here is what you do if you want a good fitting shoe; Go to the store and try them on! There isn't a shoe on earth that will fit everyone the same. Find one that feels like it fits, subtract a 1/2 size and order them from BC. But if for some unforeseen reason you cant do that, like you live in West Africa or something, a 7 is probably your best bet. One perk of ordering from BC is unconditional returns. So when you get them and work them in a bit. If they arent fitting exactly the way you want, you can always send them back no questions asked.

Petzl Spirit Express Quickdraw
January 25, 2010
I personally prefer the 17cm. I own both and enjoy the extra length for building anchors or whatever I find myself needing. I think it is a good middle ground length that can eliminate the need for runners in a slight handful of situations.
On second thought, I recall a number of situations where the top anchors were unevenly set, and one 11cm and one 17cm fit the bill perfectly. So it might be beneficial to have a couple of each.

Petzl Reverso 3 Belay and Rappel Device
January 21, 2010
Reverso3 vs. ATC Guide:
Look closely here at the V notches. This is where the battle over the Guide is won. Notice how the Petzl rounds out at the bottom of the V as to not pinch your rope causing damage when your climber takes a big whipper unlike the BD. Notice the extra engineering put into the raised ridges, BD's are just exactly that, raised ridges, where Petzl's are asymmetrical with a more gradual slope up and a more abrupt shelf to create better stopping power. Petzl's superior design allows them to get a better stop with only two ridges vs. BD's three; that equals less friction on your sheath which equals longer rope life. You can argue all you want about ease of use or parallel belay orientation vs. perpendicular orientation, but that is all a matter of opinion. This is physics, you cant argue with physics

Scarpa Vision Climbing Shoe -2009
December 31, 2009
These shoes despite being leather will not stretch. Scarpa attaches "anti-stretch panels" to the leather to keep them from stretching. Creating a breathable leather shoe with out of the box fit.
Depending how you like your climbing shoes to fit you might be able to squeeze into a 46, but I would probably recomend finding a shoe that comes in 46.5 of 47.

Black Diamond Mini Pearabiner Screwgate
December 30, 2009
The "Mini" refers to it being small for a pear shaped biner, according to BD.com it is "Slightly smaller than the RockLock", which is their largest biner. If you are set on a BD try the Positron. http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Black-Diamond-Positro
BC has a unconditional money back guarantee, so even if you buy either one and it doesn't fit, you can send it back no questions asked.

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's
December 30, 2009
I have a 40" chest and the Medium fits like a dream! But I am also 6'1" so I'm a bit taller. The Medium will give you the extra room for laying; the Small might be a bit too tight in the chest with a fleece under it. I guess it kind of depends on how you want the rest of the jacket to fit. You being on the shorter side I wonder if the sleeves length and total jacket length of a Medium might be too much. Not that it is going to drowned you, but half the point of buying an arc'teryx jacket it for that famous fit. Lucky for you BC has an unconditional return policy, so buy the Medium and if at any point you decide it is too big send it back for the small, no questions asked! Another option is trying it on, I always recommend trying things on when in doubt

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe - Vibram XS Grip
December 28, 2009
That all depends on how you want them to fit. The Booster is very asymmetrically designed shoe, it will feel a little tighter for that fact alone. But if you are happy with the way your technos fit and want the same fit but more aggressive, you would probably be safe with a 42. If you aren't happy with the sizing of your technos or don't want these to feel tighter you may want to adjust up or down a half size. But what I would really recommend is going to your local outdoor store and trying them on. Climbing shoes are very tricky; no two shoes will fit the same. Trying them on is the only way to be 100%.

Five Ten Team 5.10 Climbing Shoe
December 22, 2009
The extra rubber on the toe and the texture on the heal would make the Team a much better shoe for hooking. They are both "high" asymmetrical shoes and would probably perform much the same. I would say the Team is what you are looking for.

Five Ten Team 5.10 Climbing Shoe
December 22, 2009
It really depends on how you want them to fit. At a straight across 13 your Defys are probably pretty comfy. Depending on your skill level you may want a tighter fit. The Team is a more aggressively designed shoe to start with so it is going to be tighter in the toe box then your Defys as it is. I would highly recommend finding these in a local store (if you live in salt lake, BC will let you try them on at the warehouse.) and trying them on. No two climbing shoes will fit the same. You really need to try them on!
Something to keep in mind, which you should know from your Defys, the Team is a synthetic shoe. It will not stretch. What you buy is what you get.
On a side note, if performance and fit are not really important to you. You could probably get away with a 13 again, the more asymmetrical shape will give you a tighter feel and it will probably be exactly what you are looking for, something with a monster edge for the jibs and good smearing rubber.

I would highly recomend going to your local big box outdoor store and trying these on. I know plenty of climber that like "these" shoes but don't like "those" and others that like "those" but don't like "these" for no reason other then the way they fit. No one shoe is going to fit great for every one. Go to the store, try one lots of shoes if these fit the way you want, come back to bc and buy them.

It really depends on how you carry your weight and how you want it to fit. If you are middle of the road kind of guy the L will probably fit best. If you have a broad chest or are thicker around the middle you might go with XL. What you should do is measure you chest and arms and see where you fit. Also keep in mind Arc'teryx have a slimmer athletic fit, so if you want it to drowned you or need it to fit over any Budweiser tumors you might want to size up.

Millet D. Dulac Pro Model Climbing Shoe
November 19, 2009
These have lined synthetics uppers, which means they aren't going to stretch. If you wear a 10 buy a 10. Depending on your skill level you may want to buy tighter, but I would recommend trying them on at a store if you aren't sure.
