G3 Onyx Ski Crampon

February 28, 2012

thanks for the answer - are these going to help for the in-between steep terrain - i.e. where it gets a little steep for skinning, but using actual crampons adds a bit of time and effort I'd rather skip if possible? Or if it's too steep for skinning, it's probably too steep for these? I'm trying to figure if these are worth it for the couple of times a year I encounter that kind of terrain where I am (the east).

G3 Onyx Ski Crampon

February 28, 2012

What's the downside of going really wide with these? I've never used ski crampons but have been a few places lately where they seemed like the would have helped. Current skis are around 88mm waist, but I would like to get some fatter skis in the future. What's the downside of using the 130mm crampon on 88mm skis for the present time?

true to fit, water resistant, and they look good. These are great pants and very comfortable and durable. I wouldn't change a thing. They are perfect for traveling.

Stoic Welded Duffel

April 26, 2011

cold has no effect on it that I can see. It performed the same in -15 below farenheit as it does at room temperature - maybe it's a little stiffer, but it doesn't actually fail because of it or anything.

Dynafit TLT Vertical FT Binding

January 18, 2011

What's the difference between these and the TLT Vertical ST? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth dropping the extra cash for these. I've been using Fritschis for the last five years, but have finally accepted that most of my touring involves long slogs for short rides so want to go to a much lighter set-up with some softer boots (currently older dark grey Scarpa Tornados). Any suggestions on these bindings or boots is appreciated. Thanks

G3 The Baron All Mountain Ski

March 24, 2009

I'm 6 feet, 188 lbs, advanced skier - I'll be using these mainly for the east - basically tuckermans and places near there and occasional trees at jay. I have a pair of 177 and a pair of 184s, so I need to get rid of one pair - I'll be mounting naxos on whichever pair I keep. I also have a pair of b-squads with fritschis that I use out west, so this really is a strictly east coast use. 177 sounds a little short to me, but when I'm going through trees sometimes I think the skis I currently tour on are way too long (184 b-squads), but I'm guessing the skinny waist of the g3s will make them feel smaller. So, I guess my question is 184s or 177s for east coast touring?
