Backcountry.com Goat Sleeve

September 5, 2011

It would seem to me as it's an almost exact copy of the buff...Are ethics non-existent these days?

I have a buff and it's great, so I'd imagine this product to be great as well, but don't copy other products. Feels like a Design Within Reach type of approach, which really hurt their brand until they realized their mistakes and turned things around.

Pretty excellent

Suunto t4c Heart Rate Monitor with Comfort Belt

Suunto t4c Heart Rate Monitor with Comfort Belt

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2009

For what it's made to do this thing is pretty excellent. HR monitor works perfectly every time. Always stays in place. A bit tricky to use, but the manual is written well, so once you've set it up you'll be good to go. The coach feature is nice, lets you know how to train as best as possible, but I have a tight schedule, so I frequently disobey it, and it changes the next five days to adjust to what I do.

I haven't used any other heart rate watches however, so I don't know what else is out there, but I'm pleased with this watch.

Works Great.

Icebreaker SportLTD 320 Coronet Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker SportLTD 320 Coronet Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2009

I wear this almost every time I go skiing and it works great. It's also nice for the apre ski since it looks good. Super smooth, never itched me once. Bought it in the blue color, on sale for $75 and think it's well worth it as a heavy weight long underwear top.
The only down side is that it's starting to pile on the upper back and shoulder straps from backpack wear. Oh it's also annoying to dry wool stuff in a dorm room where large flat surfaces are rare.

Great Jacket

The North Face Redpoint Jacket - Men's

The North Face Redpoint Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2009

Kind of wish there was a hood, like the MH jacket that also uses primaloft one, but their stuff is never long enough (6'5") so I got this one. So warm for it's size it is amazing. I regularly wear it over a t-shirt in 20 degree weather to class. I also wear it as my insulating layer over long underwear, under a shell when alpine skiing and it also works great (a time when it's nice not to have a hood). I've probably worn it for 50 of the past 65 days and it's holding up fine. This thing puts fleece to shame. I plan on stuffing it into my backpack in the spring and fall, as a small just in case layer. Much better than I expected it to be.

Made for layering (which makes sense)

Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's - DO NOT USE

Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's - DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2009

This shell is great. I've used it skiing for 12 days this season, as well as for a cold hike back in the fall. It's quite large when i wore it hiking in the fall, but it's a winter hardshell made for skiing and mountaineering, so that is to be expected (6'5" 175lbs). Hood works better than anything i've ever experienced. all three chest pockets can be used when wearing a backpack, which is great, the contents is also out of the way so it's not annoying to buckle up a pack. Obviously it's waterproof. I got it to wear when mountaineering and winter camping, but have only used it for hiking in the rain and skiing so far, and it has worked well for both those tasks. I'd say it's a bit $$$, but I'm an engineer and think that good design is worth the money. Oh, it's also long enough which is usually of concern to me, so that's a huge plus.

Backcountry.com Stoic 2.0 Shell - Men's

Why can't you make a shell pant to match? Is no one else sick of only black pants on this market? Give me some bright blue pants please.

Warm and love the fur

66 North Iceland Thórsmörk Down Parka - Men's

66 North Iceland Thórsmörk Down Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 27, 2008

I've been using this jacket for 4 months and it has been perfect. I got it while in Prague and wore it around the city through november and december, without ever getting cold. I've also using it for skiing and it worked very well except there is no skirt. The fur around the hood it great and is very soft. Well worth it's cost.

Nice bindings

Look PX 12 TI JIB Wide Big Trouble Ski Binding

Look PX 12 TI JIB Wide Big Trouble Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 January 15, 2008

Make sure that whoever mounts them gets them flush on the ski, since both me and my friend had them mounted on '06 and '07 public enemies, and they tried to give them to us with about a 3mm gap between the pad and the ski top. very solid binding though, nice wide brake, less unwanted ejections than my old salomons.
