Great layer to add to the collection.

Arc'teryx Seeker Comp Softshell Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Seeker Comp Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 23, 2008

I have had this jacket for 2.5 seasons now and truly enjoy it. I use this during the summer for camping hikes in woods, and for most of the winter skiing. I love the breathability and never find myself sweated up inside of it. I have not had problems with wind but my standard midlayer is a mountain hardware windstopper fleece to that may be part of it. I love the zipper on the collar and how it comes up the side. i can ski with it fully zipped all day and it doesn't irritate my face. Also, little things like the hood cinch and the small place to slide the brim of you hat into, it makes the hood stay in place while hiking or camping and the hood turns with your head. Not enough for extremely cold days I am good down to about 5 F but any less than that and I usually go to a down jacket. I have done spring skiing in this jacket where it was snowing but the second it hit you it turned wet and though the softshell material was wet to the touch on the outside I was not wet on the inside. Great jacket to layer with. But if it is going to be your only shell I would go for something with goretex or a similar material.

Backcountry.com Stoic eVent Shell - Men's

November 19, 2008

What is the durability of this jacket as far as going through trees and thicket, I absolutely destroyed a Gore paclite jacket last year when I wore it hunting (I think there is more area treated with seam seal than isn't). will this hold up to thorns and and brush and the rest of the stuff or am I still stuck buying a hiking/ski jacket and a hunting jacket, I hate most companies' hunting jackets because they don't breath well or are rediculously insulated and don't allow proper layering.

Arc'teryx Covert Beanie

Arc'teryx Covert Beanie

Rating for this product: 4 November 13, 2008

I got one in orange and it is bright enough that I can get away with it for hunting. It does not completely cover my ears but I bought it knowing that. If you want a full coverage beanie this is not it however I wear mine when I am out being active and still want to be able to hear, which makes it great for hunting. This is also my go to beanie when camping and I want to keep my head warm at night while sleeping. It is also high enough that I can tuck it behind my ears without looking ridiculous. Great product! Also, i do not have a large head I think I am a 7 1/8.

Not too shabby.

The North Face Roadhog Short - Men's

The North Face Roadhog Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 9, 2008

I have a pair that I ahve been wearing for two summers now and they are finally shot. I did put them through their paces camping and I also worked in a warehouse so I was always carrying cardboard boxes so they did have a fair share of wear and tear. Not as durable as say a stand up short but pretty good none the less. Also, very comfortable and as you wear them in they get very soft but that also becomes their eventual downfall as the fabric wears through. Still ordering two new pair since they are on sale. Nice enough to go out but functional for hiking and camping. The draw string is nice incase you forget a belt or end up swimming in them..

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2008

I've had this jacket for nearly 7 years and it is still in great shape. And I wear it more than anyother jacket combined. light and thin yet somehow adapts to all sorts of temps. I wear it on cool nights while camping during the summer and it is also warm enough to walk to the bar in upstate NY when it is 15 degrees and the wind is blowing off the hudson. I have a crew of friends and we argue over gear constantly but everyone seems to agree this is an amazing jacket on its own or for layering while skiing. We look like a walking MH add when 6 of us go to the bar and we all have the same jacket.

Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib - Men's

November 2, 2008

I had a pair of the theta sk's which I bought last year and loved and unfortunately they got lost in a move. Is the the sv the closest thing in comparrison to them. Does anyone know anywhere that has left over sk's from last year, also I liked that mine were in a slate blue color instead of the same old black, also the picture on bc is different from arcteryx's website which one is correct?

Arc'teryx Theta SK Pant - Men's

Arc'teryx Theta SK Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 7, 2007

I just got the pants and have since skied them for 6 days at Steamboat and 2 days at Mt. Snow. So far no tears on the inside cuff, has a very heavy duty reinforcement. Very light but definitely need some layering under them I prefer no insulation and would rather layer so they are perfect for me. Also the bib is a great height. comes up right under the chest in the front. I think it is perfect because it is high enough to keep the snow out on a powder day or after a spill but not so high that you feel like mom just bundled you up to go sledding in 1st grade. By far my favorite ski pants in a 21 year career. Now if only they made them in pink to match my jacket, skis, bindings, poles, and chap stick. lol j/k this is a serious pair of pants.
