Bio:
My passion is all about skiing untracked pow. I'd much rather go up via the skin track than ride a lift, but I won't decline a lift ride from time to time.
In the summer (which starts around June for me after milking every last pow day possible) I spend my time riding my roadie, trail running, hiking and getting ready for bow hunting elk/deer.
In the fall when I'm not bow hunting or finishing a few end of the season long road rides or races like Lotoja, I'm often waterfowl and upland bird hunting mixed with some camping and hiking with my kids.
I write gear reviews for FeedTheHabit.com and Gear.com and also own a hunting deal of the day website called www.Camofire.com so I can get deals on that stuff for myself as well as take care of my hunting buddies.

Loving the Kore - great for backcountry skiing
Kaenon Kore Sunglasses - Polarized
April 6, 2009
I've been using the Kaenon Kore sunglasses this year for ski touring and regardless of the weather (stormy or sunny) they have far exceeded my expectations.
The 28 lens is the one I ended up getting and it's a solid performer in all but the most intense sun.

Backcountry.com Shift Composite Jacket - Men's

Will the pockets fit skins? Or rather, can you get skins in and out of the pockets (assuming they are large enough to fit them) without trying to "put a square peg in a round hole"?It's a deal breaker question.

Backcountry.com Fresh Spring Corn Limited Edition T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's
May 9, 2008
There's no joke here. This is the skinny:In the spring when the snow freezes overnight and then starts to soften up in the sun it is no longer a frozen surface of "ice" but resembles little granules of ice/snow as it starts to soften. The granules are about the size of a kernel of corn. Skiers refer to it as "buttery smooth corn" when it's just right, smoother than a groomed ski slope at a resort. Given the right temps and conditions during the day and overnight with a refreeze, the cycle could go on for days. However, there is a short window of time each year to be able to "harvest good corn".

Backcountry.com Shift Softshell Jacket - Men's
May 9, 2008
nope, no pit zips. I've used this jacket for 4 months now, likely 20 plus days of skiing and other outdoor activities. With the thin micro fleece backing I initially found that I was over dressing (and therefore overheating) for backcountry skiing. It took me a couple of times to figure out the right type of layering so that I could wear this jacket comfortably. If its super cold, I wear a long sleeve zip neck base layer. If it's going to be normal temps to warm, I wear a short sleeve 1/4 zip tech tee. I've really liked how durable it is and it's been great wearing around town but when it came to the overheating during heavy use it just took time to get it dialed. Hope that helps.

Backcountry.com Merino Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's

sizing? I've got long arms (35" sleeve length) and generally fit a large unless the arms are short. Anyone got some beta on how this shirt measures for sleeve length?
