Arc'teryx Alpha SL Jacket - Women's
March 30, 2009
I believe the main difference is the cut of the collar area and connection to the hood. The Alpha SL, when zipped up fully, should cover a larger portion of your lower face. This makes it better suited for use in an alpine climate/harsher weather. The Beta SL on the other hand has a collar which is perhaps more flattering, if tamed-down, whilst kickin' it around town.

Voile Ski Straps 9 Through 25 inches
February 11, 2009
What size do I need for A-frame with a Volkl T-Rock (119-87-111) ski? Should I go bigger than required for other purposes?

Osprey Packs Atmos 35 Overnight Backpack - 1900-2300 cu in
February 3, 2009
Jeff Gerhard: This pack has enough room for a ultralight sleeping bag & tent but not much room for anything else @ the same time. You could probably pull it off in the summer months when your clothes bag is much smaller. paulba: I agree with Jeff. I have used it for several overnight backpacking trips, but only in the summer, and when packing pretty light. I brought a 2 person tent a +45 degree synthetic bag (pretty small), 2L water, hose, clothes, MSR pocket rocket stove+fuel, food. It is a tight fit, but def can be done.

Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiter - Men's
January 8, 2009
Get at least large, if not XL. i have size the large (my foot is size 9.5) and it fits my backpacking boots perfectly but its a pretty snug fit on my plastic Scarpa mountaineering boots. It works, but I sort of wish i had the XL since the fit would definitely be better.Alternatively you can go with the expedition version of the Crocodile gaiters. Those are designed for use with plastic boots, so are much bigger. I don't own a pair, but for those i would guess medium would work well (thinking about getting a pair of these for my plastics).

Arc'teryx Delta AR Fleece Jacket - Men's
December 2, 2008
No, this product is not at all similar to your Windwall jacket.First of all, let us note that in all fleece jackets there is a tradeoff between breathability and wind-resistance. You either get one or the other, but never both. For example, a windstopper product (such as your Windwall) may be entirely windproof, but it is not very breathable. This fleece is on the opposite end of the spectrum: it is about as breathable as fleeces come, but its wind-resistance is nonexistent. The purpose for such a jacket is that it won't get clammy if you are sweating during a very high-output activity (a Windstopper definitely would get clammy). Instead, it will remain largely dry, lofty, and warm (provided no wind). When wind blocking is needed, this piece must be layered under a shell. This shortcoming is actually a big bonus when layered beneath a shell, because it means (1) opening pitzips will actually have a noticeable effect, and (2) your shell will be capable of breathing to some degree since perspiration moves so readily through the fleece and to the lining layer of the shell.

The North Face Alliance Jacket - Men's
November 13, 2008
No. This is a shell-only jacket. The purpose of this is so that you don't sweat to death when generating a lot of heat (such as on an ascent), but you still need protection against wind and/or precipitation.

The North Face WindWall 1 Jacket - Men's
October 14, 2008
I also don't like baggy jackets. I am 5'10" and 155 lb., and for North Face, which I believe to generally run big, I always go with a small. I even find small to be a little bit bigger than I'd like with North Face.

AKU Suiterra Leather GTX Hiking Boot - Women's
October 7, 2008
Although I do not own these boots, I can pretty confidently say, no. The boots are intended for day hiking, and although they appear to be high-end hiking boots, I think they lack the support that such an extended trip would demand. I would suggest looking in the Backpacking Boots category. The trade of here is weight and support. Hiking boots are much lighter, but have much less support, so will not hold up or support your feet and ankles well when carrying a big load for extended trips. It looks like the La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX might be a good choice for that purpose.
