    The greater Montana area/region
  • Bio:

    Pretty simple:

    Winter- Ski (intermediate, there is still much to learn)

    Summer- Catch trout (probably should start interrogating them before I release them as they are a crafty bunch)

    And just so I'm a well rounded citizen:
    I vote;
    Visit the coasts a couple times a year;
    Try not to take beer league softball too seriously;
    And try to attend at least one major league baseball game every year.

Smith Phenom Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Smith Phenom Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Rating for this product: 5 February 26, 2008

"Very Nice" -Borat
These are sweet goggles. There are a plethora of lens tints and frame colors for every lighting condition and outfit (if that's important to you). The tint descriptions are in the sizing chart, I think that's the most important thing to checkout. The venting system, (I leave it open all the time) works great, any fogging that happens is gone in no time. Great perif. vision, no distortions at edges as advertised. Love the Mirror lens (have the Platinum lens) the only thing that's better is the face shield worn by Cobra Commander and last time I checked they don't sell those. Works great with my Giro Fuse brain bucket i.e. no gaps. I have a smaller face and the Phenoms fit great. I bought the Smith Prodigy goggles as well just for comparison. They are a similar lens design but the Prodigy frame engulfed my face, they have a bulky, funky, edgy look but not for me, returned them. As far as shape and size Phenoms have a minimalist look but if you're looking for a more eye catching look the diff. frame colors make up for it. The Platinum Mirror lens is great for sunny days and bright overcast days but when light goes really flat they def. suffer or rather you do and you need to turn on Jedi powers. I was told by a Smith rep. the Sensor Mirror lenses are great for Flat light and the Ignitor Mirror lenses are for all-around goodness. Happy-times!

Arc'teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 28, 2007

I am 5'10" 150lb.= a lean build. The medium fits me very well, sleeve length is perfect with a great natural fit when wearing just a tee shirt underneath, but it's roomy enough layer underneath it (100 weight fleece or heavy thermals ). A 300 weight fleece would be a tight fit and I wouldn't try to use this piece as part of my system if I was going to be inactive and it was cold enough to need thick fleece. The Gamma MX is a very thin piece but surprisingly warm and is superb as cutting down the wind, but it is def. NOT wind or waterproof. I'm a photojournalist so I'm outside a lot in all kinds of weather and always on the run and the Gamma MX is on or near me at all times. During the fall when I was shooting outdoors sporting events , meaning I was relatively stationary and inactive, I was very pleased with how it cut down the wind and maintained warmth on days where wind chill dipped temps down around freezing. It wasn't toasty but all that was missing a shell and I would've been golden.
The four main pockets are very convenient.
The styling is nice.
It performs as intended.
Great Jacket, very versatile.
