The North Face Solaris 35 Backpack - 2150cu in

This pack fit all my gear for a three week trek through Switzerland and Germany. I carried it on all my flights without a hitch (my treking poles, too).

CamelBak Bite Valve and Straws

February 14, 2010

I have a two-year old who loves his Camelbak and I know how irritating leaks can be. BC.com does not seem to carry a replacement bite valve for the kid's bottles. I did see one at another website (Dick's, item# 3959341), but after shipping you may as well buy a whole new bottle. Kids love to chew on those...

Yakima BedHead Truck Rack Locking

Yakima BedHead Truck Rack Locking

Rating for this product: 4 January 1, 2010

The Bedhead is easy to install w/o any special tools and it keeps your bike securely in place. While the nut on the skewer does come off, you can make pretty tight with the quick release. It is always good to remember that locks only stop the honest person and if somebody really wants your bike then they will get it.

Yakima Q Clips - 1 Pair

January 1, 2010

Well Ryan, if they are no longer sold retail then your best bet is somewhere like Ebay or even used somewhere like Craigslist. You may also try contacting Yakima and asking them if a different clip would work.

Yakima Q Clips - 1 Pair

January 1, 2010

Hey Mike, I found that the Q99's are rather hard to come by. The best thing I found was to just keep checking until they are back in stock.

The North Face Solaris 35 Backpack - 2150cu in

The North Face Solaris 35 Backpack - 2150cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 27, 2009

Three weeks by foot and pedal through Europe and this pack rocked. The main compartment has plenty of places to keep travel documents, etc. Hydration compatibility means I do not get thirsty. GREAT padding on shoulders and waist, I was never sore from carrying this pack. PLUS, it meets current carry-on standards so I never had to check it as luggage, which is ideal for someone who wants to hit the ground running!

Yakima Sky Box 16 Cargo Box

Yakima Sky Box 16 Cargo Box

Rating for this product: 5 December 27, 2009

Sturdy, stable, and secure. This box stores enough for my family of four to go camping, visit family during Christmas (extra toys to bring home), and keep our skis if needed. Easy handling does take two people, but I have installed it alone. If you do not have a fairing and are concerned about wind noise, don't be. I have driving a several thousand miles with the just the box and never heard anything. I recommend getting the wall mount for storage while not on the car, it frees up a lot of room and looks killer, too.

Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack

Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2009

The fact that this rack comes from the factory compatible with both an 1.25" and 2" receiver is great. Sharing between two cars with different sized receivers is a non-issue, just use or remove the provided adapter and install.
I have had three bikes back there cruising down the interstate around 80 and they did just fine. Rough roads were not a problem either, this rack is very solid.
The added deadlock gives me piece of mind that the rack and bikes are safe from nasty thieves. Sure, part of the rack could be jacked, but what good would that do anyone? I am not worried.
The forks drop down when not in use and the entire racks folds down for simple access to truck, hatch, etc.
In summary, this rack is safe, solid, and looks darn fine on the back of any vehicle.

The North Face Solaris 35 Backpack - 2150cu in

The specs on the bag give the dimensions as being 22" x 13" x 9". I plan on using mine as carry on for a trip to Switzerland this summer. For my torso, the waist straps hit right above the hips and tighten down quite well. There are even straps to cinch the bag itself into the waist belt.
