Good Gear Sling

Metolius Multi Loop Gear Sling

Metolius Multi Loop Gear Sling

Rating for this product: 4 January 16, 2010

This thing does as it should. The gear loops are well constructed and great for organizing specific draws or cam sizes. The shoulder strap is well padded. You can change the length of the shoulder strap but its not the easiest process. However, that didnt stop me from owning a few of these slings.

Good Pad

ALPS Mountaineering Lightweight Series Air Pad

ALPS Mountaineering Lightweight Series Air Pad

Rating for this product: 4 April 1, 2009

Took this car camping a handful of times. My first impression was that it was a bit thick and heavy, but due to the fact i was not backpacking, it was ok. I did have to inflate a bit in addition to the self inflation. It was very comfortable to sleep on. It is also nice that it came with a storage bag unlike other brands where you have to buy it in addition to the pad.

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 1, 2009

Nothing like walking into a bar and having people stare! Well maybe not, but its a great jacket. I am 6ft at 175 with longer arms and the medium was a bit small so i went with the large. It fits snug but not too tight. The jacket is also warm, just so long there is not any wind. Any breeze goes right through it. Now I know why monkey's dont like it when you blow at them.

Good Helmet

Giro Encore 2 Helmet

Giro Encore 2 Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 April 1, 2009

No real complaints. Just comments. My spy goggles fit nicely over the helmet. There are three different sizes of padding to place in the helmet to customize fit which is nice. If you plan on wearing a hat with the helmet make sure you measure your dome with the hat on. I would buy a size larger if i ordered again. You can use the helmet without a hat but the vents cause a bit of a draft.

I would buy

ALPS Mountaineering Crescent Lake Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic

ALPS Mountaineering Crescent Lake Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 4 April 1, 2009

I was looking for a last minute, inexpensibe 20 degree synthetic. This bag fit the bill. It is light weight, great at generating static, and fits nicely in the stuff sac. Its not a work out to get it to cram in there. I am 6ft tall and the bag was a bit snug. The draft collar at the neck was nice. There was a bit of a loss of heat at the full length zipper (which gets stuck on the material pretty easily) but I still slept warm. I havent tested the 20 degree rating but it held up nicely at 30 degrees.

Black Diamond Momentum AL Harness

Black Diamond Momentum AL Harness

Rating for this product: 4 April 1, 2009

Good harness. I use it for gym climbing and outdoor sport. It is comfortable, light weight, and looks good in the tequila gold. The adjustable leg loops are key to a comfortable fit with shorts, pants, or kilts. It took a bit of getting used to with the buckles on the left hip but fits well. If you tighten the waist too much it seems to offset the front tie in points. all in all, i am glad i purchased and i look forward to it catching my falls for the next few years!

Minor Complaints

Big Agnes Sunnyside 2-Person 3-Season with Footprint

Big Agnes Sunnyside 2-Person 3-Season with Footprint

Rating for this product: 4 October 22, 2008

I have had this tent for 3 years now. After about a year I had to reseal the tent due to minor leaks. Once I put some waterproofing on the fly I was golden but it did lead to additional buildup of moisture under the fly that would drip into the tent. I also had an issue with the poles. The tent blew over in a mild winds and bent both poles. I have not been able to find replacements and the fly and tent touch in a few areas that create a path for moisture. Other than those 2 issues the tent is great. The floor has not had any leaks even with waking up in heavy rains on what seems to feel like a water bed. The dual doors work out great for entry and exit. The tent is light, vents well, and easy to clean and maintain.
