Well-constructed but lacking some bells & whistles

CW-X Element X Jacket - Men's

CW-X Element X Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 17, 2008

I bought this piece primarily for running and it does the trick. It's durable, has a nice cut and fits well, breathes and cuts exposure to wind very well. I'd be stoked on this jacket if it had a pocket on one of the breasts, or at least one inside pocket to keep my ipod in. The jacket has two pockets, both external and both sitting on the waistline/hips, not very practical if you run or ride with music. Overall, it's a good product that could've been great.

Love these tights!

CW-X Insulator Expert Tights - Men's

CW-X Insulator Expert Tights - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 17, 2008

I've become a bigger and bigger fan of these tights as I continue to use them for more and more activities. I originally bought them for cold weather running, but have been using them for mountain-biking, rock-climbing, and even as a base-layer beneath expedition-weight capillene on really cold ski days. They'd really be sweet for running if they added a bit more insulation in the swimsuit area but I guess we need to preserve the market for insulated underwear. I highly recommend these tights and will likely buy more pairs downstream!

Not stoked on these

La Sportiva Cardiff Running Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Cardiff Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 March 19, 2007

I have been pretty upset with these shoes and reminded of why it's not a great idea to buy shoes online... Two weeks into using them they are still stiff, have a narrow cut and two of the lace eyelets have broken. Good thing I ordered another pair (different brand though) at the same time.

Perfect for 1-2 day tours

Black Diamond Revelation Backpack - 2136-2746cu in

Black Diamond Revelation Backpack - 2136-2746cu in

Rating for this product: 4 January 9, 2007

I've used the Black Diamond Revelation a few days this year and have been really happy overall. I use the smaller version, which is ideal for single-day tours or supported multi-day trips in the BC. Don't expect to pack much food, a bag, or tent- just the essentials. The pack fits really well, has easy access to avy tools, enough space for extra down layers, socks, gloves, etc, and a top pocket for the small stuff, not to mention a couple of nice pockets on the waist belt for snacks or maybe a radio. The hydration compatibility is mediocre, expect to cut the hole bigger if your hose is insulated. For the most part this pack is bomb-proof, well designed and really durable. It's definitely been made with skiers in mind and I would not recommend it to someone looking for a camping-style backpack or to snowboarders.
