G3 Skin Review

G3 Alpinist Climbing Skins

G3 Alpinist Climbing Skins

Rating for this product: 2 April 2, 2008

Bottem line: Product needs more work.
I have used and cared for a set of BD Ascention skins for the past 10 years. As I am approaching the ripe old age of 60...new gear for our yearly week at Blanket Glacier must weigh less...G3 skins on Olin Outer Limits (old product but light and snappy) seemed a good change. G3 are much lighter than Ascentions. However, first day out noted glue failure at both tip and tails. Yoyo runs on Caribou Ridge were possible but the glue failure increased with each skinning up. If you did not have a warm cabin to return to each evening to dry out the skins, you would be in trouble. Our guide and host at Blanket indicated even worse problems were noted with these skins at cold temperatures. We were skiing hero powder at minus 3 to minus 6.
Not recommended.
