Stoic WPF Compression Sack

Thought it would be a good addition so I bought all three sizes...not what I was expecting.

First, the valve always gets blocked with whatever is inside making it difficult to get the air out without pulling on the valve while trying to compress the sack...a mess screen or something would probably help this problem.

Second, once I/you/Houdini does get the air completely out, it slowly creeps back in. I have three sets of these and every one leaks air back in. I am a guide and have used all sorts of dry bags and compression sacks and never had an issue, these just don't keep air out, and with that if there is water, it will be able to get in. All, I mean everyone of the nine that I have has leaks around the top where the fabric meets the clear plastic...the fabric comes off the plastic. I have tried to glue them and they "seam" sealed (get it seam) but they still leak....

Verdict, not a bad "splashproof" bag, but not submersion proof. Also, not a compression bag, since they decompress in a relatively short period.

Would I buy them again? Not unless they fix the problems..I would return them, but I don't have the receipts.

Great Socks...

Darn Tough Merino Wool Micro Crew Cushion Hiking Sock - Men's

I have worn all types of socks...from Wigwam and Smartwool, and most brands in between. I have found them all good, but I have yet to find any that fit as nicely and that are as comfortable as the Darn Tough line. The seems are perfect and the longer ones don't constrict your calf at all, yet they will stay in place. Great socks for the money..

Be Careful

Gregory Whitney 95 Backpack - 5309-6285cu in

The product is okay, average quality, heavy for what you get. The harness system is good, and there is tons of room.
BIG PROBLEM: Gregory the company. If you have to deal with them. I was trying to get a clip from them, one of the buckles broke and they wouldn't send me one, even if I wanted to pay for it. They wanted me to package up the pack and send it to them for a quote on how much it will cost to fix. Um? Spend $25 on shipping to get "quoted" how much it will cost for a $.035 clip? I don't think so. Why does this happen? They wisely outsource their repairs to Summit House...so now my Gregory Pack is at the back of my closet, where it will stay, and I am proudly using an Osprey Pack.

Ospreys Soar

Osprey Packs Argon 85 Backpack - 5187-5553cu in

Let me start by saying that I have several Osprey packs, and have never had a problem with quality, ever!

Unlike Petwitzky, I am a huge, HUGE, fan of the Atmos Series of packs. They hold exactly what they are intended to, take you on ultra lite hikes or summer forays. Anything over 50 lbs in the Atmos 50 and the waist starts to dig. So if you want to carry more weight buy a larger volume pack.

Now, as for the Argon, I agree totally, an exceptional pack. I am a professional guide and have tried several large volume packs, from various companies, Gregory (don't ever buy from them), LoweAlpine, The North Face...etc, and I have yet to find a pack that will hold large amounts, and small amounts, for when you are through with all your food, so well. The pack is a bit on the heavy side, but loaded it shines. On several occasions I have taken my Argon and switched it with a clients pack who was having problems. Given them mine and taken theirs. My pack is usually about 15-20lbs heavier, and let me tell you, comfort is not an issue, I would carry an overweight Osprey vs a moderately packed bag from other companies.

The only drawback I can see from the Argon is unlike the Atmos series it has no pockets on the hipbelt.
