Why the Hood? Because it doubles the warmth

Mountain Hardwear Hooded Insulated Compressor Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 23, 2009

Amazing jacket, stuffs down to the size of a full sandwich sack. If you can't figure out why the hood is so essential, you're not using this jacket for what it's intended for.

Mountain Hardwear Hooded Insulated Compressor Jacket - Women's

Depends on what you're wearing underneath, and how much activity you are doing... 30's w/ t-shirt, 10-20 with a fleece or two underneath with low to moderate activity would probably be a good generalization.

La Sportiva Mantis Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Mantis Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 4 August 30, 2008

As a small sz 12 street shoe, I ordered a size 45.5 in these. Out of the box the fit was a bit tight, which equated to significant pain on the first few climbs. after baking them in the sun on some warm climbs (~10 pitches) they fit like a glove and climb hard. The fat rand is priceless for the inevitable Teton crack jams here n there.

ballnuts

CAMP USA Ball Nut

CAMP USA Ball Nut

Rating for this product: 4 August 30, 2008

Definitely a great addition... I wouldn't use them as a nut replacement, as I don't feel they are as secure as a good ole chock, but they definitely protect when nothing else will, and with a strength rating for their size that puts other pro to shame. Their construction and design seems rock solid, just be extra cognizant of each placement as with any piece... Its usually not the gear that fails, but the rock around it.

CAMP USA Ball Nut

August 9, 2008

anyone know why the CAMP #1 ballnut is rated for 7kN but the trango #1 ballnut is rated for 4.5kN? Is it really a different manufacturer... they seem identical.
