Great Light Gloves

The North Face Power Stretch Glove

The North Face Power Stretch Glove

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

This is the second pair of these gloves I own and I love them. I use them for camping and hiking in moderately cold weather. They could be used as a glove liner as they are light and thin. They are warm enough to use as a casual glove in the winter and they provide great dexterity. I have hiked with them in the rain and the reason I love these gloves is that even when wet they kept my hands warm, I felt like my hand were dry and the heat from my hands eventually did dry the gloves. They are not waterproof and I would not use them in the winter if you are going to be making snowballs or go ice fishing or any activity were your hands will get wet in freezing temperatures. I would not do anything abrasive with them either like climb a tree or play tug of war as they will probably wear out quickly. If used for there intended purpose they work extremely well, they will last a long time and are worth the money.

Wicking Shirts Rock

The North Face VaporWick Ruckus T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face VaporWick Ruckus T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 21, 2008

This shirt is the least expensive wicking t-shirt I have seen and for me it is a good one. It is loosely cut like most cotton tees. It feels similar to but better that cotton. It wicks great if sweating. If you have ever hiked in a cotton shirt while wearing a backpack took the pack off and when putting it back on experienced that cold uncomfortable feeling from the wet shirt being press against your skin you will never experience that again with this shirt. I have gotten caught in the rain with this shirt on and even though the shirt was completely soaked I felt dry and comfortably warm, similarly to a wool garment without the itch. I have had mud ground into the shirt and it washed out after two tries. The only negative about the shirt is after wearing a backpack while hiking the fabric of the shirt that the pack was rubbing against has started to pill (get bumpy).

Not standard nalgene 32oz. size

Nalgene HDPE Wide Mouth BPA-Free Bottle

Nalgene HDPE Wide Mouth BPA-Free Bottle

Rating for this product: 2 July 16, 2008

It's my own fault for not reading the full description, but from the picture they look like the standard nalgene bottle. Upon receiving I was suprised and disappointed to receive these minnie water bottles. They are half the size and made from non-carcenigenic plastic.

Like a 10º Sleeping Bag!

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Down Parka - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Down Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 27, 2007

I love this jacket! The Parka looks good for a puffy jacket. I bought the parka because it is longer and I heard that the jacket version has a tendency to lift above the waist when hands are raised in the air. Not a problem with the parka. I have had no problems with the fabric in anyway (although I do not scrape the jacket against jagged edges or wear it while playing contact sports). It appears to actually be water proof from my tests (I couldn't imagine wearing this jacket in temperatures above 25ºF anyway). The hood is great. I have no complaints about the zipper. I have done away with layering when walking around town as a T-shirt and the jacket keep me warm to 10ºF. With long Johns and a fleece underneath I bet I would be comfortable to -20ºF. With in the first few days of using the parka I notice some down emerging from the fabric, but since the initial half a dozen feathers have come out the problem has ceased. I hope the Parka holds up against the test of time and keeps me warm for many winter to come.

Great Bag!

Big Agnes Crystal Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree PrimaLoft/Down

Big Agnes Crystal Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree PrimaLoft/Down

Rating for this product: 5 October 1, 2007

I used the bag on a night that got down to 30 degrees and I was warm all night sleeping in my boxers so I am sure in long johns the bag is good to 20 Degrees. The sleep pad being integrated into the bag is brilliant. I slept on a slight slant and never fell off my pad. It is ridiculous how comfortable the whole system is together. The best part is I can now fit my bag, pad and pillow (Therm-A-Rest small compressible) all into the included stuff sack and it all fits neatly in the sleeping bag pocket on my pack. I Highly recommend Big Agnes insulated sleeping pads and their sleeping bags to anyone who wants the most comfortable sleep available while being lighter and taking up less space than anything else out there!

Cadillac of Boards

Never Summer Titan Snowboard

Never Summer Titan Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 February 7, 2007

This is my favorite board ever. It is definitely made for big mountain riding. It is time I am true to my style which is definitely not jibber. It is great in powder, trees, bumps and steep backcountry. I have rocked it out it the pipe and it is not too heavy to throw spins. It carves great forward and switch and I hardly notice it is a directional board when I am riding fakie. I love the feel of the wood core as it bulldozes through crud. If you got skills and want the best ride out there to explore the mountain and still throw tricks get the Titan. I am 5'8" 180lbs. and ride a 160cm. Perfect!

Rad Jacket

The North Face Quanticon Triclimate Jacket - Men's

The North Face Quanticon Triclimate Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 16, 2007

I love this jacket. I was out riding yesterday in -5ºF weather and was comfortable. In warmer weather I remove the liner (which I wear as a jacket around town) and I stay dry and warm all day. Basically this jacket allows me to maintain a comfortable body temp in any condition. I love the mp3 player pocket with routing for headphones. The only minor negative would be the zippers were stiff at first, but are now loosening over time. I would buy this jacket again.
