Although the battery pack is significanly larger, this puts out more light for a longer period of time than the "pro". Great product. I had a few issues with my first one. The headband and the articulation point for the light broke. I think it was a fluke, as I haven't any problems or additions troubles. I appreciate the overall construction: h20 seal on battery pack and simple mechanical fastener of the light articulation point. Essence: well built (att. to detail), great light output. (far best I've ever seen) Great customer service. Highly recommended. Get the pro if weight/size and battery duration is of great concern. Get the reg if looking for a longer lasting (batt power) bomber light. Downside: the buttons are a bit troubling with cold fingers or gloves.

the batteries in the pro does not last as long as the reg, and puts out slightly less light. I like them both for different reasons. Unless you have a solar charger for the cr 123 (pro) I'd take the regular apex on extended adventures, as it lasts much longer. Or snag the pro for a fast/light expedtion. The light output variance is not enough to steer me one way or another. Great customer service. As I have them both, I will say they're most radical. kauwabunga

This is the 3rd review of mine for this product. I broke the pivot which enables articulation of the light from the head strap. I still like the mechanical fastner, (Bolt and nut) however it is attached to a flimsy piece of plastic which broke. Their customer service is great. I would not get the unit with the cr123's unless you have some great love or reasoning. They don't last as long as the AAA's and only weigh (i think 100 grams more). I would be stoked to see some design changes, however it is a solid unit for the most part and puts out some great day light.

Would you buy a car designed by ferrari, and built by ford. I hope not. This is a great product idea which I really want to love. However, it looks and feels like a toy from the dollar store. Poor h20 proof battery seal, (utilizes a bogus O ring) which falls off way too easily. Batteries don't last. It works only when god wants it to. I took it on a two week outdoor survival course, and it quit working after 10-14 nalgenes. I replaced it, thinking it was just a lemon. Then backpacking in So Ut with it's replacement, it quit working one day into the trip, with new batteries. For an item that will either keep your body healthy and sustained or in peril, it has been built like a chinese water pistol. The customer service was terrible the 1st go around. Now on the 2nd they seem to acknowledge a flaw and have been a bit more helpful, which is irreleavent to the fact that it is hokey pokey piece of gear. My buddy has the Adventurer model, which seems to be a little better built and had no problems over two months of periodic use on the original batteries. If you want to give one a try, don't get the journey, the frowny or smiley face is cute and all, but a green and red light on the Adventurer will tell your Pavlonian mind the same thing. Green=good red=bad

two things:
-after using this product for an extended period of time, I thought I could learn how to push the buttons first try. I can't. Either I'm incompetent, or they are poorly designed, likely both, however they are only buttons, and I've been pushing them my whole life, so I will lean toward flaw of design. But when it's cold out and I can't feel much, I really struggle, thus the use of gloves is def. out.
Also,
-after the first or second day of use, the thread on the strap failed and the band came undone. I spoke with the guys at the Outdoor Retail show and they said they hadn't heard of it occuring before. So likely a fluke, considering the quality is bomb proof and sheds a whole lotta light. Although I have two gripes, I dig the headlamp and still recommend it. Even on low, my buddies are always mentioning how bright it is.
We managed to put a man on the moon, so i give 4 stars for their failure to provide quality buttons.

I was frustrated with animals eyeing me at me at night, because I couldn't tell which monster wanted to eat me. So I upgraded to this little sunshine. I appreciate how both the battery pack and light housing are h20 tight, and mechanically fastened with screws and bolts, opposed to cheeezy plastic snaps. Durable construction. It utilizes two function buttons rather than one, which enables you to get to the light function your after, without cycling through all of them with one button.

i perspire relatively lightly. after a night of light snow, and the storm flap only covering my head (not zipped), i had very little condensation inside the sac come morning. my buddy sleeping in an older sac and of less quality, arose with significant moisture on his sleeping bag, (he sweats a lot) it has easy access and zips well. i appreciate the no see-um bug mesh. it would be nice to have a window in the storm flap to see the stars, snow or whatever. overall, i'm quite pleased with this product, enough that the use of my tent is now limited

it puts off adequate light for the back country, ignites well and is quite compact. I don't mind using my headlamp everywhere so it's not a necessity to me. but if you prefer otherwise, i highly recommend it, as i feel the quality is high and functions well (my educated assumption after limited use).

It doesn't seem as if marmot put much thought into these pants. The articulated knees are nice, as well as the design and function of the cargo pockets. I've found the knee pads to be nice whether tele or snowboarding. My gripes: h20 doesn't bead very well when wet. The surface material absorbed much of it, however I never felt it on the inside of the pant. The leg vents are small and should definitely be larger. The main hand pockets at waist are just like jean pockets with a small piece of velcro keeping it closed, still allowing snow to enter the pocket when you turf it. All and all, not too impressed. I purchased a pair of rip curl pants a few years ago and liked them much better than these. On a side note, they fit snug, which I like for the back country, but not for the lifts.

Sweet, bomber jacket. Keeps the elements at bay. I appreciate the location and size of the pit zips - they're relatively accessible with a pack on. The pockets aren't as much pockets as they are vents. The hood fits well with or without a helmet. Has great arm articulation overhead. I would like to see a powderskirt option at least, because the waist hem doesn't stay as snug as I'd like. Sometimes I experience a draft, standing or crashing. I use it snowboarding and teleboarding in both the BC and resort. It keeps me comfortable in a wide range of conditions. My favorite part is that I can hike/perspire with vents open, and not be bothered by wind or snow. Aside from my minor gripes, I am most pleased with this jacket. Although pricey, it's great. I expect it to last for years, but only time will tell.
